Why You Shouldn't Just Blog.

This month's issue of American Artist Drawing (probably the best drawing magazine ever published and superior to most books on the subject) has a comprehensive article about drawing, refuting David Hockney's nonsense theory, but also touching on a an important book published nearly 10 years ago:

The HandHow Its Use Shapes the Brain, Language, and Human CultureWritten byFrank R. Wilson.

The premise- what we do with our hands influences how we think...and we are probably the first generation to be nearly completely detached from the close relationship our hands had with our brains. Activities like drawing, writing by hand and playing musical instruments help maintain this relationship.

So grab that Moleskine, fountain pen, pencil and paper and start thinking again.
