Why?

Many people will be asking that question about this. Gun control, lack of, a thousand fingers will be pointed. A thousand causes....I don't claim to have the answer, but I can't help but think that current culture and violent video games make the contemplation of such an act more palatable.

Can we really believe, as game makers claim , hours that add up to weeks and months and even years of playing violent games like grand theft auto don't effect someone's psyche? We know that watching violent tv effects the subconscious....Games are far worse tv because there is no moral consequence for the 'characters' in the 'game'.

Personally, I am all for the right to bear arms, particularly for Americans...and I think we need to define exactly what that means - but the availability of guns is NOT the cause. If it were, Switzerland a country in which every household with a male citizen above age 18 and below age 42 is required to own a gun would be the most violent country on earth. Clearly it is not.
