Well, Gosh, if ONLY we just talked to them!

In response to a lawsuit forest city tells NY 1:
The developer says the lawsuit has no merit, adding, "The suit filed today by project opponents should come as no surprise to anyone, as the opponents have claimed publicly that their strategy is to sue early and often.

That, of course, is a reference to corruption in city politics, specifically, ballot box tampering - the 'vote early vote often' of "boss" politics days - an era that Gargano and Pataki seemed particularly nostalgic toward. That Forest City, the poster child for state and local corruption would use it strikes me just a tad ironic. The (no doubt poorly dressed) spokesman continues:

Despite numerous losses in court already, opponents are unfortunately continuing a strategy of legal maneuvering rather than constructive dialogue."

Forest City's ability to tell the 'big lie' never ceases to amaze me. This one is passed off on an innocent reporter, who might not know the background: Forest City did EVERYTHING they could to make sure there was no real dialogue, no community input, no discussion. Everything was on Forest City's terms.

Now they have the gall to say 'let's talk'. Well without the law or court cases all we have to rely on in a dialog is Bruce Ratner' and Forest City's good graces and their word. Personally, I place no faith in something that does not exist.
