Ooops, we lied again....

Guess you'll have to pay for it:

Con Ed cites AY as boosting electricity cost, but Final EIS passed

NY1 reported yesterday that Con Edison, in requesting the largest rate hike in its history, blamed, among other things, Atlantic Yards:
Con Ed came before a State Assembly committee to explain the rate hike. Officials argued Wednesday the system is strapped and that massive projects like the Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn will burden the system even more.
They say the rate hike would cover improvements to handle energy needs, some of which have already been made, but have not been fully paid for by customers.

As with the other poorly planned aspects of this poorly planned project the inevitable flaw is this: Ratner/Forest City have NO liability for any failure. EVERYTHING must be absorbed by the government. This is what happens when irresponsible dishonest companies have easy access to the public coffers.

Did Forest City and the corrupt ESDC know that the project would cause insignificant rate hikes? If yes, then they were lying. If no, than they are remarkably incompetent. Either way, I don't want them building a major project in my neighborhood.
