Inflate the Currency, Go To War

From Charlie Reese:
Ernie Hemingway explained the problem many years ago. The first thing politicians do to hide their mismanagement, he said, is inflate the currency; the second thing they do is go to war.

Our currency has been inflated and we are at war. The demonization of the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which you saw take place in New York City and on American television, is just the first step in preparing the country for a third war.
......
Whether you agree with Iran's president or not, he's the wrong guy to try to demonize. First of all, he is not a dictator. He is an elected president with very little power. He has to get past the legislature, and the real power rests with the senior cleric, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Khamenei controls foreign policy and is commander in chief of all of Iran's armed forces. The legislature rejected nearly all of Ahmadinejad's recommendations for ministers. When he tried to allow women to attend soccer games, the clerics overruled him.

The claims that Ahmadinejad denies the Holocaust and has called for the destruction of Israel are false. He has called for regime change, which is something American politicians do every time they find a country whose policies they disagree with. Regime change is a change of government, not genocide. As for the Holocaust, he said it raised two questions: Why put people in prison who question details of the official version, which is what several European countries do? Why should the Palestinians be made to pay for it? Both are good questions.

How American politicians can call Iran a dangerous country and claim that it poses a threat to the U.S. is a mystery. On second thought, it is not a mystery. It just tells you that the politicians think you and I are so stupid that we will fall for the exact same parade of lies and exaggerations that was used to justify the war against Iraq.

Think for yourself. Iran has no nuclear weapons, and its military is designed for defense. It has no offensive capability – no air force, no navy to speak of. Israel, on the other hand, is usually ranked as the fifth most powerful military state on the planet. It has more than 200 nuclear weapons and a superb air force.

Reese nailed it. Unfortunately, most Americans do not, or are too busy worrying about next week's starting QB and whether Torre will be around next season, not to mention all those reality shows that people watch to escape reality. Why are people so damn interested about fake reality and avoid real reality? Baffling.

Tabu Oscar Nomination?

MN is pushing for it, according to this article::

Mira Nair to push Tabu's name for Oscars?

IANS | Monday, 24 September , 2007, 12:37

New York-based Indian filmmaker Mira Nair likely to push Tabu's name for an Oscar nomination this year. The talented actress played the central role in her film "The Namesake".

"She is definitely going to project Tabu as a potential best actress at the Oscars. Though Irrfan Khan is as good, if not better, the focus of Nair's Oscar campaign for her masterly study of the Indian diaspora is likely to be predominantly Tabu," said a source close to the project.

"Irrfan is excellent. But he lacks what the Americans are looking for in their Oscars recipe. Tabu is exotic, glamorous and mysterious. This is her first real exposure to the Western audience. And they're lapping up her Bengali act, thick accent and all. On top of that she's also wowing the westerners with her performance in 'Cheeni Kum'," added the source.

I think Irrfan's performance was more subtle but just as strong - but Tabu stole the show. I would like to see her nominated, but I don't think Indian film makers or actors should have to be 'validated' by Hollywood - especially since their output is often superior. At this point its kind of like Japanese automakers desiring an 'excellence in design' award from Detroit. Still, wouldn't mind seeing Tabs up on the podium thanking her friends and family - it would be nice, for once to see an actress with grace and dignity.

Here is an interview:

Because It's Friday, and I don't feel Like Working...

I have a thing for Queen Rania. What a face. My goodness. Stunning. Perhaps because the first girl I had a crush on was Egyptian? Is that the root of my arabist sympathies? Who knows.

In my personal observations, in general I have found Palestinian women to be quite often attractive and in some strange way often resembling pretty Scottish women, same intense light eyes, with striking brows, raven hair, though obviously not a fair.

A legacy of the crusades? Often the prettiest ones are Christian, who obviously have amixture of blood.

However, of the four prettiest women I have ever seen one was in the Protestant section of Belfast, the other in Edinburgh, the third as a girl of Scottish descent in my high school, so genitic fatalists like Richard Dawkins would say its in my genes.

Atlantic Yards, It's Going to Be A Blast!

From the NJ Ledger on the Newark Stadium:

TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT
Newark will shut streets near arena
Thursday, October 11, 2007
BY JEFFERY C. MAYS AND JONATHAN SCHUPPE
Star-Ledger Staff
With two towering glass entranceways, a high-definition scoreboard and a massive video screen visible from Manhattan, the Prudential Center in downtown Newark boasts all the features of a state-of-the-art arena.

Except for one thing: it was built too close to the street.
City officials said yesterday that the arena, due to open Oct. 25, isn't far enough from traffic to protect it from a potential terrorist attack.

To make up for the shortcoming, Newark will outfit surrounding streets with concrete barriers to keep cars and trucks from the entrance at the corner of Edison Place and Mulberry Street.

"You can't construct an arena and put it right against a street in a post 9/11 world," Newark Police Di rector Garry McCarthy said. "So we're playing catch-up and taking measures to make sure it's safe."

You can't construct an arena right up against the street, in the real world, but in Ratner's fantasyland, where luxury condos are affordable housing, sewage pipes have 10Xs their actual capacity, traffic problems solve themselves, and demapping streets is good urban planning, anything is possible!

No sign of any 'catchup' for Bruce Ratner's plan, is there? If putting a stadium so close to a major street is a known issue - and it is now indisputable that it is not, then what does the ESDC propose? Close off the two busiest thoroughfares in Brooklyn before and during games (then how will people get there, the subways are over capacity)? Or just let it go and ask terrorists to just be really nice and not blow up anything?

Maybe have extra police security and surveillance? How much will that cost where it will it be diverted from and who will pay for it? Answer, lots, from neighborhoods that need it, and taxpayers of course who are essentially footing the bill for this whole project. Of course the WTC had extra security too. Knowingly putting up a very unsafe and bad design and then trying to address the problems and risks that design creates is paramount foolishness.

If the state, city and ESDC go ahead with this, with full knowledge they are putting our lives in danger, then they have reneged on their obligations to the public and forfeited whatever trust we have left in them (which isn't much). Essentially they can no longer be trusted or granted authority if our safety is willfully ignored. The question looms even larger, why are they doing this, and the answer just keeps getting uglier and uglier.

Knowingly putting us at risk for a terrorist attack, is this part of the 'public benefit'?

Postscript:

Atlantic Yards Report mentions that Ratner/ESDC (are they really separate entities) argued "The response shifted, as the state and developer emphasized the importance of confidential preparations."

Wow, do they have some super secret plan to protect glass walled arenas flush with busy streets from car bombs? Can they let us in on it? Or maybe just Newark, and the WTC reconstruct, both of which had to take very visible, public measures for security. Again, Ratner/ESDC asks us to 'trust them'. Sorry fat ass, I'd count the spoons after having you for over dinner.

Church of England gay clergy row intensifies
By Jonathan Petre, Religion Correspondent
Last Updated: 1:52am BST 08/10/2007

A senior Church of England conservative has intensified the storm over homosexuals in the clergy by warning he will boycott next summer's Lambeth Conference if liberal American bishops are invited.

Bishop Nazir-Ali said profound differences needed to be resolved

The Bishop of Rochester, the Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali, said he would find it difficult to attend a Church council alongside those who consecrated or approved the appointment of Anglicanism's first openly gay bishop.

Way to go ECUSA? Got your membership down below a million yet?

Whew-hew! I'm going to the Derriere Guard!

What the hell is that? Oh if you only knew. Nothing to do with guarding derrieres (though I am available please send a sample photo first however) . It's about art. The 10th Anniverssary of the original:

Adieu to the Avant-Garde

As the artistic regime shifts, realism, rhyme, and representation make a comback.

Tom Wolfe is holding his audience spellbound with what seems the unlikeliest of stories.

Spotlighted in a bare, black "performance space" deep in downtown Manhattan, Wolfe is evoking the careers of a trio of mostly forgotten 19th-century French painters. The story's certainly entertaining, thanks to Wolfe's talent for such narrative. But what's really interesting is his reason for telling it: Wolfe is here to celebrate the approaching fulfillment of a prophecy of his, and to announce the end of a cultural epoch.

First, though, his story. "Exactly a hundred years ago," Wolfe is saying, "there was a survey taken by a French newspaper--they used to love to take this kind of survey--in which they asked leading French art dealers, critics, curators: Who would be the French artists of the 19th century who would still be the giants of art in the year 1997? By the standards of that day, it was a huge survey. And the results were, number one, Adolphe William Bouguereau; second, Jean-Louis Ernest Meissonier; and, third, Léon Gérôme. They were looked upon as the giants."

Short version: It's a cheekily coined 'movement' of Painters that believe you need to know how t draw, Poets that believe poems should rhyme and, perhaps most shocking of all, composers that feel music should have melodies.

Anyway, got on the list to attend the discussions and hear Tom Wolf speak. I hope to get some particularly acidic commentary on Frank Gehry's 'architecture'. Stefania de Kenessey will be there along with some great painters, artists and poets.

Another message of hate
Swastika scrawled on Columbia bathroom follows noose incident

by joshua rhett miller / metro new york

OCT 12, 2007

MANHATTAN. Two days after a noose was found on the door of a black professor’s office at Teachers College, anti-Semitic graffiti was found in a bathroom at Columbia University.

98% chance that this is hoax...but even if it wasn't - grafitti written in a bathroom is front page news?

Needless to say the 'reporter' doesn't even have the common sense to speculate about his 'big' piece - that it may be fake (Columbia at first refused to turn over survelliance cameras concerning the noose 'incident') , that it is highly unlikely that some neoNazi movement is about to break out of Columbia anytime soon, and that its probably self-inflicted. I notice all the comments trying to link it with conservatism, which, I think gives you some idea of the view of these 'liberals' and why they would be so intent on trying to fake such 'crimes', while of course ignoring real crimes.

If it does turn out to be fake, should the punishment be as harsh as if it were 'real' - Grafitti is often celebrated in the New York Times, as 'art' and the 'artists' are never prosecuted - it would interesting to see if, for example a suspect was caught who was white, male conservative -they would probably want to put him away for 5+ years - but if it were a liberal trying to make a point? No charges would probably be filed.

Fake "Divesity" vs Real Diversity

"Diversity" as an ideal, is a pretty silly 'goal', none the less it seems to be the obsessive focus of our so called elite. Usual, they like to plaster feel good images like this:

Sometimes, when they want to prove how edgy they are and of course offend some christians, a satonic star will be included. Wow. How DARING..... Of course, in reality, a real diverse, open tolerant sign would include the most sacred symbol to close to 1/6 the planet, thus:

Of course, "Donny" Deutsch would again be greatly offended. Funny how sensitive this edgy in your face, tough, anti-racist, multicultural, liberal, trendy hip guy is. Mention Jesus Christ or an ancient Hindu symbol and, well you'd think you flashed a Cross to Dracula.

Why don't diversity-mongers ever include a symbol so sacred to Hindus? Where's the tolerance and diversity? It's fake diversity- a sham. For those who don't know it's baffling to Hindus that we would even associate it with evil - as baffling as if someone told you the star on the American flag represented Satan and human sacrifice (well maybe it does these days). Yet it is not included because....?

Funny, in newly multicultural Britain, Hindus actually did want to display their sacred symbol, but where told that was not the sort of tolerance diversity that was meant when they said diversity.

The Rage Against Ann Coulter.

Anti-semite, bigot, racist, blah blah blah. Why? Because Ann Coulter simply said that Jews would be better off as Christians.

Here's one guy bitching about it:

Jews Not Perfect Enough for Ann Coulter
Yet more proof Ann Coulter likes to hear herself talk - and that talk shows like that! She appeared on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, and talks about how Jews need perfecting - "we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say" - to the point of being Christians. Deutsch was shocked, argued with her, and went to commercial by saying, "Ann Coulter, author of If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans, and if Ann Coulter had any brains, she would not say Jews need to be perfected. I'm offended by that personally."

[my note:With the usual 'solution':]
Interesting, Seinfeld is a show created by some "imperfect" Jews! If anything, we'd like this to be a sign to the bookers at talk shows: Stop the Ann Coulter madness and stop inviting her on.

As usual the solution is to 'ban' dissent. I am sure actually an umbrella of groups like the ADL is planning to do just that. Someone says something you don't like on a no holds barred talk show? Ban them, not the show. That way fake controversy and distraction remains. East coast Jewish establishment can still pretend to be open minded, edgy, etc while really actively banning any sort of dissent or real challenge to their views like this one;

Call for Jews to stop calling Jesus a bastard

By Ben Martin
Last Updated: 12:14am BST 06/10/2007

A senior American cardinal has asked Jews to reconsider descriptions of Jesus as a "bastard" in exchange for a softening of traditional Catholic prayers calling for Jews to be converted to Christianity.

The controversial comments, by Cardinal Francis George of the Archdiocese of Chicago, concern a prayer said during Easter celebrations by the small number of parishes or priests who celebrate a particular form of Good Friday mass.
advertisement

Those version of Good Friday prayers calls for the congregation to pray for Jews to be converted to Christianity.

But Cardinal George said this prayer should be amended to ensure it did not offend Jews.

"I suspect (the amendment) probably will be (made), because the intention is to be sure that our prayers are not offensive to the Jewish people who are our ancestors in the faith," Cardinal George said in an interview with the National Catholic Reporter.

"We can't possibly insult them in our liturgy … not that any group has a veto on anybody's prayers, because you can go through Jewish texts and find material that is offensive to us. But if we're interested in keeping the dialogue strong, and we have to be, we should be very cautious about any prayer that they find insulting."

But this should mean that Jews, in turn, consider amending their own religious texts, he said.

"It does work both ways. Maybe this is an opening to say, 'Would you care to look at some of the Talmudic literature's description of Jesus as a bastard, and so on, and maybe make a few changes in some of that?'"

As the Cardinal states. If Christians believe that to be saved you must be Christian, then how is it offensive to wish that one be converted? Not forced mined you, but spiritually? Answer: it isn't and as the Cardinal points out the hypocrisy of Jewish groups doing this is beyond belief, when, if the Cardinal and others are to be believed, their spiritual texts are filled with anti-Christian passages. I do not read Hebrew and do not know myself (i have heard conflicting comments) but given the hostility to things as innnocent as Christmas trees by groups like the ADL, I am wont to believe they do.

WND has a 'fair and balanced' take on it, mentioning:
The National Jewish Democratic Council called on "mainstream media outlets" to stop inviting Coulter as a guest commentator and pundit and strongly condemned her comments that in a perfect world all would be Christians.

They are playing a no win game here. If they do suceed in banning her at a time of increased awareness of the power of the Israeli Lobby and influence of the wealthy East Coast Jewish elite in general, it would be hard to pull this off 'behind the scenes'. If they suceed it will be yet another example of an unbalanced influence by a small group, not to mention creating a further rift between the only group that still supports Israel. If they fail, it will be a visible loss of power, that what they object to can be said and one can still remain in the limelight and have access to the media. We'll see.

But someone gets it right:

Kevin McCollough writes:
"Danny Deutsch in short is an angry anti-Christian bigo
t, looking to make a name for himself by biting into Christian icons. Pretty sad way to attempt to "scratch your way" into the "big time.""

Catholics think I would be better off Catholic. Am I offended? Afraid? Environmentalists think I would be better off if I 'believed in' global warming. Am I offended?

Instead of constantly accusing others of antisemitism, I think it is about time the East coast Jewish elite were confronted about their own bigotry, their own ethnocentrism, their out right hatred and contempt and distrust of middle America, the South and Christianity. Since the 1960s they have led an all out assault on all three. In my personal experience, I don't think most Jews feel this way, any more than the actions of the Episcopal church and Bush family represent the views of this Anglo-Saxon Anglican.

postscript: a little googling around revealed this about one version of the Talmud:
What exactly is so scandalous? How about Jesus punished in Hell for eternity by being made to sit in a cauldron of boiling excrement? That image appears in early manuscripts of the Babylonian Talmud, as does a brief account of Jesus' trial and execution—not by the Romans but by the Jewish high court, the Sanhedrin. The Jewish community, to the extent Jews were even aware of these excised texts, has been content to let them remain obscure and unknown. If groups like the ADL are aware of this and I cannot imagine they could not be, how on earth could they continue to demand the Catholic Church change its Easter prayers and not address the issue of Talmudic texts? Hmmph.

Anger over plan to dig up 350,000 bodies in historic London cemetery for Muslim burial site

File under:
a. i couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.
b. who would have believed it a mere 40 years ago
c. when and how will it stop?

Well, since the UK and EU don't care about the lives of living Englishman, is it any surprise they have no regard for the dead?

Anger over plan to dig up 350,000 bodies in historic London cemetery for Muslim burial site:
It is a peaceful resting place for 350,000 souls - an historic graveyard which now serves as a nature reserve.

But plans are afoot to dig up the ancient graves at Tower Hamlets Cemetery - and reopen it as a 21st century burial site.

Officially it would be known as a "multi-faith" cemetery but it is likely that it would principally answer calls for a Muslim graveyard in the largely-Asian East London borough.

Free Trade Ain't Free, and It Ain't Trade.

The Truth About Free Trade: Small Net Gain, Big Redistribution

Listen to this article Consider the ironies in the discussion of free trade. It's widely depicted by economists to be a good thing, and anyone who opposed it is considered to be economically illiterate. Yet the system we have deviates considerably from the free trade ideal and is more accurately called managed trade. And in this system of managed trade, other countries seem to do a better job of protecting their labor markets and achieving trade surpluses than we do.

In particular, Harvard's Dani Rodrik has shed a good deal of light on this topic. In one post, he set forth the conditions that have to be in place for trade liberalization to enhance economic performance (short answer, a lot); in another, he reviewed the analyses that claimed that our current trading system produced large economc gains and found the logic to be badly flawed.

The advocates of more open trade are particularly upset at the growing backlash against globalization, which they see as retrograde and self-destructive (funny how the same citizens who are viewed as savvy economic actors when they function as consumers are regarded as morons as far as their labor market attitudes are concerned). But if you are, say, an auto worker, being against more open trade is a perfectly sensible position.

The trade liberalization advocates would say that anti-trade auto worker and call center employees are simply selfish. Yes, they wind up as losers, but the collective gains outweigh the losses. But since there are not mechanisms to make sure the gains are shared, the losers have legitimate concerns.

George Bush, Holocaust Denier

From Gates of Vienna:

House Foreign Affairs Committee: Yes , It Was a Genocide

The Democrat-controlled House Foreign Affairs Committee has spurned the advances of the White House and voted to call the actions of the Ottoman Turks against the Armenian minority in 1915 a genocide.

For the Democrats, presumably, it was more than enough that President Bush was against the measure — then they knew they must be for it.

Sometimes people do the right things for the wrong reasons. According to the AP:

A U.S. congressional panel defied President Bush on Wednesday and approved a measure that he said would damage U.S. goals in the Middle East.

The measure that would recognize the World War I-era killings of Armenians as a genocide had been strongly opposed by Turkey, a key NATO ally that has supported U.S. efforts in Iraq.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee’s 27-21 vote now sends the measure to the House floor — unless the Democratic leadership reverses course and heeds Bush’s warnings.

At issue is the killing of up to 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman Turks around the time of World War I. Turkey denies that the deaths constituted genocide, says the toll has been inflated and insists that those killed were victims of civil war and unrest.

Up until now, President Bush has been rather Wilsonian in his conduct of foreign policy, but he is downright Kissingerian on this issue. The requirements of statecraft tell him that he must ignore the mass slaughter of all those Armenians — for the greater public good, of course.

Bush and other senior officials had made a last-minute push to persuade lawmakers on the Foreign Affairs Committee to reject the measure.

“Its passage would do great harm to our relations with a key ally in NATO and in the global war on terror,” Bush said hours before the vote.

So holocaust-denial is OK sometimes, eh? What is this, Situation Ethics?

If King Abdullah wants us to withdraw our recognition of the Shoah in return for his support of the “War on Terror”, will we do that, too?

The Foreign Affairs Committee’s Chairman, Rep. Tom Lantos, D-Calif., warned of the potential fallout if the proposal passed. Lantos, a Hungarian-born survivor of the Holocaust, supported a similar resolution two years ago.

“We have to weigh the desire to express our solidarity with the Armenian people … against the risk that it could cause young men and women in the uniform of the United States armed services to pay an even heavier price than they are currently paying,” Lantos said.

Replace “Armenian” with “Jewish” in that declaration. How does it sound then?

I don’t know the ins and outs of Armenian-Jewish relations, but this is interesting:
- - - - - - - - -
The issue flared in Massachusetts a few months ago. A local Anti-Defamation League leader was fired after saying he agreed the killings were genocide. Days later, the ADL reversed its stance, saying the killings were “tantamount to genocide.” The man was rehired.

Critics had questioned how a group dedicated to remembering Holocaust victims could be credible without recognizing the Armenian killings as genocide.

It’s extortion time again with the Turks:

In the fight over the congressional resolution, Turkey raised the possibility of impeding logistical and other U.S. military traffic now using Turkish airspace.

Is a protection racket really appropriate behavior from an “ally”?

Condi is pulling out all the stops:

Earlier, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates conveyed their concerns.

Passing the measure “at this time would be very problematic for everything we are trying to do in the Middle East,” Rice told reporters at the White House.

One tragedy gets a museum on the national mall, the other, brushed off for political expediency; the 120 million or so people killed by communists? That's not important, the fact that Joeseph McCarthy tried to reveal them is - and that is the great human tragedy, at least this is the consenus of our new elite. Wow, the sixties revolution brought about some great changes, didn't it? You just had to be one of those animals that were more equal than others.

Bush might have argued it was politically foolish to make such a declaration and it appears, it has alienated one of our last remaining allies in the region, Turkey. But could we imagine him vetoing the dozen or so holocaust resolutions too appease the sensibilities of, say Germany? In any even it illustrates that our victim based, multi cultural experiment is falling apart - and likewise and related our power in the middle east.

My solution: the government should not be in the business of passing such resolutions to begin with - or building museums or propping up any past historical events as propaganda to carry out policy.

The Armenians who lobbied probably knew the consequences, but they probably also reconize the extraordinary benefits being a victim in this country bestows.

Wow, can I jump to the head of the queue for government hand outs, art grants, museums, and combined with me being a Christian and therefore a victim of Communist persecution, can Hollywood please oblige and make a dozen or so movies about our suffering? To date, I haven't counted one made.

Simple Questions the Big Daily Papers Never Asked:

No Land Grab Reports:

The NY Sun
By Eliot Brown

The appeal, heard before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, is one of few remaining legal options for the group opposing the seizure of property. If successful, the trial would likely be held in district court, which could delay or block construction.

A federal district court judge in Brooklyn, Nicholas Garaufis, dismissed the plaintiffs' lawsuit in June, before it could reach a trial.

In the arguments today before a three-judge panel, the landowners' attorney, Matthew Brinckerhoff, said that a trial was necessary to determine whether New York State illegitimately awarded the project to the developer, Forest City Ratner. He noted that a competing proposal would have brought more money to the state and did not require the use of eminent domain.

"The taking here was motivated by a desire to benefit a particular private developer," Mr. Brinckerhoff said.

The state argued that allegations of motive are irrelevant since the public benefit of the project — a requirement in the use of eminent domain — was not in doubt.

article

Question one: Why is the ESDC defending a proposal that knowingly would bring in less money than a competing project, and NOT require disenfranchising other citizens, which this project obviously is, as one of the defendants, Mr. Weinstein, notes:

"My constitutional rights have been violated," said Henry Weinstein, who owns a commercial property on the land that would be taken by the government for the project. "I feel like that is one of the most important things I possess."

article

Question two: Why Is the state taking such a cavalier attitude towards impropriety and corruption? Isn't this a de facto endorsement of government corruption?

This is a little harder to grasp, but represents a fundamental shift in the purpose of government and its relationship with the people. Here, the ESDC has clearly become a champion for Bruce Ratner and Forest City, in opposition to organized local citizenry. Questions of ethics and transparency and honesty they argue are irrelevant, even if they were true. The government, essentially has become a tool for the private interests of a private citizen.

The fact that this is not disturbing to our 'elite' who run the major dailies is a reflection of how embedded they are in this obviously corrupt system.

Jena: Six blacks beat one white- playground fun. A noose hung? Hate crime. Note, no violence, but scores of specialized officers going to investigate what will likely turn out to be a. self induced (as often these 'hate victims' are ) - and then quickly disappear from the media with the 'victim' mumbling something about wanting to bring awareness to racism. b. be a stupid prank. Meanwhile, rapes and murders go unsolved in this city, hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants suppress wages, burden health services and commit violent crimes.

On a near daily basis black on white crime, black on black crime, immigrant on native crime happens, and is skyrocketing, and its not news, but lets allocate our resources to investigating this nonsense, and make it national news. It's amazing how the media loves to pick up these stories, yet on a regular basis ignore horrific black on white crimes - like Christopher Newsom and Channon Christian - the police claim its not a hate crime the SPLC claims its racism to even get concerned about the case. Remember the brutal executions in Newark? If murders were white, it would be an 5 day straight front page of the new york times extravaganza.

Why do mainstream media have such contempt and hatred for middle class whites? Particularly southern ones? Many neoconservatives also have a deep hatred and mistrust of rural and southern America - so both the left and right wing of the East coast elite do...what's the connection?

Lets ignore our borders and attack Iran, then wonder why we have terrorism. Lets open muslim immigration even wider (as Bush has), ignoring the examples in France, and then wonder why we have problems and conflict. Really, are the elite mad? Or is there some method to all this? I don't know if there is method - but it has all the earmarks of a radical revolution - a velvet one, but a revolution, non the less.

October 10, 732

From the general 'world view' (read anti-western) wikipedia:

The Battle of Tours (October 10, 732),[3] also called Battle of Poitiers and in Arabic معركة بلاط الشهداء (ma‘arakat Balâṭ ash-Shuhadâ’) The battle of The Court of Martyrs[4] was fought near the city of Tours, close to the border between the Frankish realm and then-independent Aquitaine. The battle pitted Frankish and Burgundian[5][6] forces under Austrasian Mayor of the Palace Charles Martel against an army of the Umayyad Caliphate led by ‘Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqi, Governor-general of al-Andalus. The Franks were victorious, ‘Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqi was killed, and Martel subsequently extended his authority in the south. Ninth-century chroniclers, who interpreted the outcome of the battle as divine judgment in his favour, gave Charles the nickname Martellus ("The Hammer")

Multicultural France is reluctant to even mention this event or hero of the French people - oh I forgot, an immigrant from Algeliers is just as 'French' as a descendant of the Frankish. If it were not for this battle, Europe would have fallen under Muslim rule - as Spain did -for a thousand years - and mosques would have stood where our Cathedrals now stand...oh wait...that's what's happening now!....If ever the west needed the Hammer, it is now. But would even he be able to lull us from passivness, sheepishness, guilt and slumber?

What "Free Trade" Is Really About.

I was reading an article in the American Conservative (not available online) about 'free' trade, where many of it advocates now admit its bad for Americans:

Money Magazine:
Americans aren't better off now than they were 35 years ago.
There have been advances, sure, but the losses are far worse than the gains. They seemed to try really hard to make it seem more even than it actually is. (p. 110)

Paul Krugman: It was never honest to say that free trade makes everyone better off. However, the winners aren't foreigners at the expense of Americans; it's some Americans at the expense of other Americans. If you're college-educated, or have a lot of investment income, you're probably a winner from trade. (Yes, some highly educated workers have seen their jobs outsourced, but on average the educated have gained.) Overall, the U.S. economy is richer. Unfortunately, the losers tend to be poorer Americans, which is why I don't just stress the increase in G.D.P.

http://www.whatswrongwiththeworld.net/2007/09/what_globalization_means.html
"In the last American Conservative there was a great article by J.G. Collins on free trade, regarding Paul Krugman's confession that free trade is harming the first world but his insistence that it must be continued for humanitarian reasons. Like with immigration, free trade has fostered a marriage between big business and multicultural internationalists. First-world countries have everything to lose from free trade, and third-world countries everything to gain. Collins says that free trade has become the "white man's burden." If we do not end these insane policies, the U.S. is going to be transformed into a third-world wasteland."

An interesting point about this 'egalitarianism' championed by the super elite -it makes them wealthy and more powerful, while claiming it makes the world 'equal' at our expense. It basically is a re manifestation of communism, where, slogans like 'equality ' are used to justify the opposite. Since the power shift in the 1960s towards this sort thinking we hear slogans and goals that achieve the exact opposite of what they claim. "Tolerance" programs outlaw dissenting views, 'diversity' programs make require singular thought, and marginalizing of core culture.

As well documented elsewhere,we have one-way free trade. China restricts and has tarrifs but we open our markets to them. The countries that benefit from free trade are the ones that practice restriction which is ignored. As Krugman and others admit - they are doing this intentionally to 'equalize' wealth world wide- at OUR expense. Secondly, as Krugman says, few economists now don't acknowlege that so called free trade hurts the poorest americans and middle class and working class americans.

Third, it has seriously diminished our clout worldwide and increased China's. Is this the point? To then force America to become part of a superblock like the EU?

http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=58050

Since 2002, America has run five consecutive world record trade deficits. Three million manufacturing jobs have disappeared. The euro has almost doubled in value against the dollar. The Canadian dollar has reached parity. Plants have been shutting down across this country for years. The wages of Middle Americans have stagnated. The trade deficit with China last year reached $233 billion, a world record between any two nations.

Where Alexander Hamilton's economic patriotism, pursued by Washington, Madison, Clay, Jackson, Lincoln, McKinley, T.R. and Coolidge, created the greatest manufacturing power the world had ever seen, producing 42 percent of all of the world's goods when Silent Cal went home, America's industrial plant has been ravaged by free trade.

And we are only beginning to see the damage done by the "trade-deficits-don't-matter!" Republicans.

The trade deficits America has run up in recent decades have helped give rival nations $5 trillion in cash reserves. They have now begun to transfer this enormous cash hoard into sovereign wealth funds – to buy up America.

China, with currency reserves estimated at $1.3 trillion, used petty cash – one-fourth of 1 percent of its cash pile in May – to buy a 10 percent interest in Blackstone, America's second largest private equity firm.

Huawei Technologies, a firm linked to the Chinese military, now seeks a merger with 3Com, a company that provides the Pentagon and U.S. Army with intrusion detection equipment to keep hackers out. In July, Chinese military hackers were discovered trying to break into a computer system close to Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

Treasury should veto Huawei's bid, even if Goldman Sachs, which claims one alumnus as treasury secretary and another as White House chief of staff, has been greasing the deal. Yet this is not the end – this is only the first of the foreign raids on vital U.S. assets.

-------------------------------------------------------

Neocons seem to have the same feel good nativity as liberals - 'hey if we bring democracy everyone will cheer for us and love us in iraq' 'hey if we open our borders and markets Asian countries will see they are wrong and open theirs, and they will be our friends.

They don't seem to grasp (or perhaps they do!) that the rest of the world - , would love to see Europe and America fall or become subservient to them. Many Indians feel this way - particularly towards Anglo-Saxons, the Chinese and more well known, the Muslims. Continuing to naively embrace policies that deliberately weaken us economically, culturally (just look at what Muslim immigration is doing in Europe) is suicide, whether its called free trade or not.

Katie Melua

She's quite popular in the UK, I find her music enjoyable. Nice to hear a younger musician who seems to actually know how to play an instrument.

She has a new album out and some of the songs are quite pleasant and enjoyable. You can hear samples here. "Mary Pickford" is a delightful, if somewhat silly song. A couple of other good tracks, though not as strong as "Piece By Piece". Oh yeah, and she's really cute too.

bhool bhulaiya

Crap. I can't even begin to pronounce it. I don't like the male lead, Askay somebody , a kind of second rate Tom Cruise...but the one saving grace...why I might see it, is Vidya Balan.
She had a stunning debut in Parineeta, and a nice follow up in a different role in the "Develop Don't Destroy, Bombay" movie, Lage Raho Munnabi, a minor part in the disappointing Eklavya, the even more disappointing Salaam E Isque, and from what i've heard, but not seen, the crappy Heyy Baby.

When she first debuted, the Indian press said how wonderful it was that a lead actress looked "Indian", which I took to mean not looking European, as most Bollywood actresses do - whether naturally via being half European, Iranian, or fair, or engineered with skin lighteners and light contacts. She naturally looked best in 'traditional' women's clothing...the attempt to gussy her up in heavy makeup and western clothes and actually play down her striking features in an attempt to make her look more European only made her look plain:

I think Vidya looks best when they just let her natural charisma, raidance and striking features come out, and not try to air brush her into something she's not. Viday looks good when they just let her be Vidya:

Look at those stunning eyes, hair, striking profile, beautiful smile -why try to hide it? As the bottom picture shows, Vidya looks best in all her Indian glory, bangles, saris, henna and all. Personally, I normally prefer, aesthetically, Northern European women, but Vidya is one of my favorite actresses, the way she carries herself is manifested through her features..and that's why she's a 'thinking man's beauty'.

Tues. Oct. 9: Eminent Domain Oral Argument

Tues. Oct. 9: Eminent Domain Oral Argument

We encourage you to attend the oral argument on the appeal of the "Atlantic Yards" eminent domain case, Goldstein et al v. Pataki et al, this Tuesday, October 9th at 10am. The owner and tenant plaintiffs are asking the 2nd Circuit Court to simply permit them to prove their Constitutional claims at trial in the Eastern District Court.

Where:
United States 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal at 500 Pearl Street, Manhattan [Map].
Ceremonial courtroom on the 9th floor.
Please enter the building at the Pearl Street entrance.

When:
We suggest arriving by 9:45am in order to get through security in a timely manner.

The Atlantic Yards Report outlines what is at stake in Tuesday's argument, and analyzes plaintiffs' reply brief in the appeal -- the final brief presented to the court prior to the argument:

In eminent domain appeal, plaintiffs say illegitimate sequence means case deserves discovery

The plaintiffs challenging the use of eminent domain for Atlantic Yards have a high-stakes argument Tuesday before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, hoping for a second chance to move the case to trial.

U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis already dismissed their case for a failure to state a claim, ruling that presence of some measure of public benefits—mass transit improvements, the removal of blight, subsidized housing, a sports facility, open space—trumped any allegation that the project might primarily confer a private benefit on developer Forest City Ratner.

AYR and NoLandGrab should offer extensive coverage (see side links).

Knights of Christendom?

An interesting "back to the future" strategy by James Pinkerton in the American Conservative:

The Once & Future Christendom

From death of the West—to knights of the West

by James P. Pinkerton

The Call of Duty—and Destiny

In one of the great epics of Western literature, the hero, confronted by numerous and powerful enemies, temporarily gives in to weakness and self-pity. “I wish,” he sighs, “none of this had happened.” The hero’s wise adviser responds, “So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide.” The old man continues, “There are other forces at work in this world … besides the will of evil.” Some events, he adds, are “meant” to be, “And that is an encouraging thought.”

Indeed it is. Perhaps, today, we are meant to live in these times. Perhaps right here, right now, we are meant to be tested. Maybe we are meant to have faith that other forces are at work in this world, that we are meant to rediscover our strength and our survival skills.

And so the question: can we, the people of the West, be brought to failure despite our enormous cultural and spiritual legacy? Three thousand years of history look down upon us: does this generation wish to be remembered for not having had the strength to look danger squarely in the eye? For having failed to harness our latent strength in our own defense?

With apologies to the frankenfood-fearers and polar bear-sentimentalizers, the biggest danger we face is the Clash of Civilizations, especially as we rub against the “bloody borders” of Islam.

What if, in the coming century, we lose that clash—and the source of our civilization? What if Muslims take over Europe? What if “Eurabia” indeed comes to pass? Would Islamic invaders demolish the Vatican, as the Taliban dynamited Afghanistan’s Buddhas of Bamyan in 2001? Or would they settle merely for stripping the great cathedrals of Europe of all their Christian adornment, rendering them into mosques? And what if the surviving non-Muslim population of Europe is reduced to subservient “dhimmitude”?

The biggest problem, as Pinkerton alludes to, is that most westerners don't want to even admit we're in this struggle and want to continue to embrace feel-good-but-suicidal-strategies.

Saawariya

Saawariya:

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's gone Hollywood - or International - doing this through sony pictures. I like the visual elements of his work. He seems influenced by the German Mountain Film makers like Riefenstahl and Frank. The trailer looks nice, but sometimes a bit too rich and some cheesy elements thrown in.

Before Those Nasty Europeans Came, Native Americans Lived In Paradise:

...if you didn't mind human sacrifice:

Child mummies 'fattened up' before Inca sacrifice
Maev Kennedy

Tuesday October 2, 2007

Guardian Unlimited

The girl is slumped like a stoned teenager in a doorway, head drooping, hands folded in her lap: she has been dead for more than 500 years, and a team of international archaeologists and scientists, led by Dr Andy Wilson of Bradford University, has just pieced together the appalling last months of her life.

Like other children found on some of the highest peaks of the Andes, the mummy nicknamed the Llullaillaco Maiden had literally been fattened up for death, fed a much better diet in her last year including maize and meat, the luxury foods of aristocrats.

My goodness, fattening children before slaughtering them? This is like something out of a Grimms Fairy Tale. Human sacrifice, and at the very least a disregard for human life, was common among pagan peoples (observe the fairly common practice of sati and female infanticide in pre-Raj India) , while monotheistic, Abramahic faiths tended to regard souls as sacred, so both practices were all but unknown in the muslim and christian worlds. Who knows, with our return to multiculturalism and paganism, perhaps this another enriching aspect of diversity we can look forward to.

Do Ethnic Power Blocks Just Make Sense?

Small numbers of tightly knit ethnic groups - as long as they are well educated and industrious, seem to do better than the indigenous populations. The Parse in India, Jews in Europe and the US, Indians in the US, Chinese ...everywhere.... even seemingly similar peoples - the Scottish are and were disproportional represented in parliament, as Prime ministers and were the doctor/lawyer class in England.

Perhaps resisting assimilation is more an economic model than a cultural one? Or do they have an advantage, like a global corporation with no interest in the welfare of locals? For example, my fairly educated WASP family devotes much of its time and resources into money losing pursuits like natural and historic preservation. Obviously an immigrant family, generally speaking, did not move here to save the local species of warbler. If the assimulate, chances are they will start to take interest into the long term well being of an area. A migrant peoples, by definition will not.

What's this?! A Hollywood Movie I Can Look Forward to?!

shock. awe...figures..an Indian made it.
link to site.
A clip from the trailer reminded me of Hollywood's golden age epics, often centering around the time of Elizbeth, starring the great Errol Flynn.

I haven't seen it yet (opens october 12) is it too much to hope for a movie which actually shows Anglo-Saxons in a positive light and reminds the world of the daring and dashing heroes like Raliegh, Drake and the other Sea dogs? (they were never called Sea Hawks) . Drake's story is the most interesting. His cousin was burned by the inquisition, and he literally got the fire of God in him , which seemed to go nicely with his new career plundering Spanish treasure galleons.

He was so feared by the Spanish they gave him the nickname "El-Draco" - the Dragon - like Rommel's 'positive' nickname given by the allies - the desert fox, it showed a grudging admiration.

Like the conquistadors - the sea dogs all came from a small area of the country (Devon) and few families.

Two Interesting Posts From Steve Sailer Point Out Why The West Won't Surive.

Unless we change, radically.
.................................................................
Item one is a New York Times Article about Indian-Americans (as in Namaste, not whoop-whooop, how) wanting to emulate the Jewish model for activism and influence on government:

One of the funnier aspect of the furious denunciations of Mearsheimer and Walt's article and book on the power of The Israel Lobby is that professional ethnic activists all admire the consummate skill with which Jewish organizations wield their vast -- yet unmentionable -- power. (Well, to be precise, the lobbies mention how powerful they are all the time. But nobody else is supposed to mention it.)

There have been a slew of "the Lobby doesn't exist" articles, articles that fly in the face of a reality that everyone knows, most of all immigrant activists, who don't have the same hang ups as Americans and Europeans about pointing out the obvious. (I heard it put more bluntly once on a train to Jaipur, when a Sikh man matter of factly said 'The Jews, they control your country" - even if that's an obvious exaggeration, it reflects a world perception, which is discussed quite bluntly in Israeli dailies like Haaretz, the only place it isn't is America).

The article goes on:
In Jews, Indian-Americans See a Role Model in Activism
By Neela Banerjee
When Anil Godhwani and his brother, Gautam, looked into creating a community center for Indian-Americans in Silicon Valley, they turned to the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco as a model.

When the Hindu American Foundation began, it looked to groups like the Anti-Defamation League and the Simon Wiesenthal Center for guidance with its advocacy and lobbying efforts.

Indian-Americans, who now number 2.4 million in this country, are turning to American Jews as role models and partners in areas like establishing community centers, advocating on civil rights issues and lobbying Congress.

Wow, just what we need eh? Another ADL like group or the ADL getting more power? It might be a good fit: Hindu Nationalists and many Indians are vehemently anti-Christian (owing to their hostility to peaceful evangelical efforts going back to the Raj, which were often embraced by the lower castes), as are many east european jews as evidenced by the ADL, ACLU, SPLC, (German-American Jews tended and tend to not be so hostile, and EE Jews often derided them for this) So I do see a natural alliance here. Jewish groups like the ADL have always tried to create the illusion that opposition to Christmas carols, trees, saying "merry christmas" (who could find this offensive!) came from a broad coalition when, if fact it was almost always just Jewish groups.

If they want to form an ethnic block and lobby in their interests, it would be an alarm bell to many whites. Indians have never suffered any serious discrimination here, in fact, Indians proudly say they have one of the highest per capita incomes in the US...yet they still complain and want to practice identity politics. Even though they have equal access and are prospering here, they want to form a power block (maybe we can end up having 20+ different separatist movements here as India has!)....seems whites are the only ones stupid enough to still be 'color blind' or willingly cede power - or, more accurately our leaders have. I for one, am tired of this crap, and since the article points out that they are blatantly lobbying for the Indian government and the interests of India, it is paramount treason. At least it would have been considered so a generation ago. Thanks to AIPAC it's standard operating procedure in Washington now. I think anyone who does it, AIPAC and the ADL included, should be stripped of their citizenship..but that's just republic-not-empire me.

I have noticed that more recent generations are adapting the identity politics model, perhaps because its a way to shrewdly navigate through our increasing byzantine , touchy feely system - being a hurt victim is easiest way to shield yourself from criticism and move to the front of the queue for handouts and quotas. Older (like above say 35) Indians usually were open minded, willing to engage in discussion, often un-PC, while the younger seem more indoctrinated (as are younger whites, but paradoxically, younger Jews - at least some - seem to not be) and more quick to shut down arguments or scream racism. Perhaps, like shopping malls, industrial farming ect, its a more efficient route to getting what you want. It may not be as good for you, but it's cheap and quick.

A comment from Steve's blog:

Ron Guhname said...

For a conservative, this is an argument against all types of immigrants: high IQ, European, and legal, as well as low IQ, non-white, and illegal.

I don't know if the Jewish model would be one I would want to follow, the ADL et al have pissed off a LOT of people and the animosity is growing, as is increasing awareness of Jewish American influence on foreign policy which often runs counter to American interests. If all those families across the US who are receiving their sons in body bags knew the Iraq war was pushed by AIPAC.....I wouldn't want to be associated with anything remotely Israeli. Really Jewish America's relationship with America is the New World version of a sad story repeated in country after country - undue influence, awareness of that influence, conflict of interest, and conflict.

Secondly, Indians will not have the power of the Holocaust to shield them nor dominance (thus far) in the media - plenty of Indians work in journalism, but not nearly with the cohesiveness and frequency of Jews.

Third, if another group with 'positive' demographics starts lobbying not as Americans, but as their ethnic group, how long until whites finally get fed up? I know I am getting there.
.............................................

Overall, it would be a bad move for Indians in America for several reasons :a. They have a 'positive stereotype' now - educated, articulate, cultured, far more interesting than East Asians because they tend to be literate, more culturally in tune with us (probably because of the British legacy, their culture vs. Orientals, and probably a bit genetic too) , lateral thinkers evidenced by a fairly open discussion here. They also really have no need to 'lobby' to get their culture or history imposed via forced curriculum ect - there is enough positive active interest even without many Indians here, the same way there is in , say ancient Egypt. Yoga, ashrams, vedic medicine, Bollywood, and a slew of Indian American writers attest to that. California used to look positively at Old Spanish culture - Santa Barbara is a classic example - that all faded away with mass Mexican immigration (which had nothing to do with old California in the first place ) .

b. If they pushed for more HB1s and more Indians over here, that 'positive stereotype ' would diminish, because less educated and poorer Indians would emigrate- look for example of the negative stereotype of Pakistanis in the UK, vs the positive of Indians. Also its plain old common sense - who in their right mind, especially after all the effort it took to come here, would want to import the chronic overpopulation and poverty problems of India?!

c. Social: They are, on average, a fairly 'handsome' people here- well groomed, good looking - far, far above the average in India. Importing mass numbers here would create a negative or neutral image. For example, many Americans are now shocked to see mexican soap opera stars that look Caucasian, when in fact it is quite common for the uppper classes of Mexico.

But non the less it is happening which means the group most like Anglo-Americans will not/do not want to assimulate, and multiculturalism is on its way to cracking up this country, because if Indians start doing things for Indians, who long is it going to take whites to say ENOUGH! Considering the stupidity of white liberals, actually, it might be awhile.

article 2:

Please allow me to harp on this again

[I am Steve!]
Looking at my UPI article of October 23, 2000, "Arab and Armenian Immigrants Gain Clout," I noticed something that you might think would have been considered relevant after 9/11, less than a year later, but simply never ever has entered the public conversation:

To gratify Arab-American voters in the swing state of Michigan, in the October 11th Presidential debate Republican nominee George W. Bush called for weakening two counter-terrorism policies. "Arab-Americans are [racially] profiled in what's called secret evidence. People are stopped, and we got to do something about that," Governor Bush said. "My friend, Sen. Spence Abraham [the Arab-American Republic Senator from Michigan], is pushing a law to make sure that . . . Arab-Americans are treated with real respect."

.....

We now know that the airport ticket agent who checked in Mohammed Atta on the morning of 9/11/2001 said to himself, as he told Oprah in 2005:

"I got an instant chill when I looked at [Atta]. I got this grip in my stomach and then, of course, I gave myself a political correct slap."

Michael Touhey told a reporter:

Then Tuohey went through an internal debate that still haunts him.

"I said to myself, 'If this guy doesn't look like an Arab terrorist, then nothing does.' Then I gave myself a mental slap, because in this day and age, it's not nice to say things like this," he said. "You've checked in hundreds of Arabs and Hindus and Sikhs, and you've never done that. I felt kind of embarrassed."

It wasn't just Atta's demeanor that caught Tuohey's attention.

"When I looked at their tickets, they had first-class, one-way tickets - $2,500 tickets. Very unusual," he said. "I guess they're not coming back. Maybe this is the end of their trip."
Indeed, it was.

Obviously in both cases, politically correct sensibilities have Anglo-Saxon peoples frozen like deer in the headlights...i know that's a tired analogy but its absolutely fitting. How much longer can a Republic last with such internal pressures and self-censure? Not very...and that is the goal of groups like the ADL, Council of Foriegn Relations, Republican and Democratic elite, as Sam Huntington pointed out.

It boils down to this: are we a proposition nation, like so many neoconservatives claim (and if they really thought this was true and the best model of government, why do they support Israel, which is ethno based?) or are we nation with an Anglo-Protestant core and if you remove or replace that core you'll alter the nature of our government. I think its self evident - the actions of ethnic blocks pursuing their own interest, which run counter to the interest of America.

""In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.""

This would be considered racism or more likely, anti-semitism today. 'nough said.

No, I am not making this stuff up:

Boy, 10, may face race hate crime charge

By David Sapsted
Last Updated: 2:00am BST 01/10/2007

Police are considering charging a 10-year-old boy with a race hate crime after he was beaten by a Slovakian woman with an iron bar.

Jake Stedman needed hospital treatment after the attack in Chatham on Friday, when he was allegedly beaten around the head and neck after being chased down an alley, and was left with two black eyes.

But police are now looking into claims from the 35-year-old woman who allegedly attacked him and who is currently on police bail, that he made racist remarks by telling her “to go back to her own country”.

If charged with racially aggravated assault, Jake, who has only just reached the age of criminal responsibility, would become the youngest person in the country to face a race hate charge.

Why does the Onion even feel the need to publish anymore? I recall an incident where a Frenchman was thrown in jail in Scotland because he disciplined his out of control child by spanking him. Now, in turn, a child throws a berry at someone, calls here a name, and she beats him with an iron bar to the point where he requires hospitalization, and he is being charged with a 'hate crime' and they don't even consider charging her!

Personally, I can see the need, particularly with boys for occasional, judicious uses of corporal punishment (I became familiar with my grandmother's switch one summer when i was being particularly unruly) but beating with an iron bar? This woman should be jailed and then deported, England and the civilized West does not need to continue to bring in people from cultures where this behavior is 'normal'. Perhaps it is not normal, perhaps, when ethnic groups begin to compete, it becomes normal.

In any event, has England gone mad? Do I really want an answer to that question?

If anything it shows just how inhumane and completely out of touch with reality our embracing of universalist concepts has become.

Seriously Could Dickens Have Come Up With A Better Villian Than Bruce Ratner?

He gave us Scrooge, Uriah Heep, Fagon, Bill Sikes, what novel would a modern day Charles Dickens weave with such icons of greed and dishonesty like Bruce Ratner? No Land Grab Reports:

Atlantic Yards Report

The Daily News got the scoop, but Norman Oder gets some answers on what's going on with Forest City Ratner's eviction of a local day care center.

As the New York Daily News reported yesterday, developer Forest City Ratner, which now owns the [487 Dean Street] building, is evicting tenant Shirley Milligan for failing to pay back rent of $3000 a month. But her lawyer tells me the developer told Milligan not to pay that rent.

Milligan told the Daily News she’d signed the lease in 2004 not knowing the building was to be part of the Atlantic Yards footprint, and put money into renovations for a day care center. Forest City Ratner spokesman Loren Riegelhaupt told the Daily News, "Forest City offered to buy her out of her lease and to reimburse her for money she spent to fix up the space, along with forgiving back rent owed… For reasons unknown to us, she decided instead to continue to withhold rent.”

Milligan’s attorney, Michael Rikon, disputes that statement. “She was specifically told by Forest City not to pay any rent," he told me, going beyond statements he made to the Daily News. "She was told that the developer would present a better offer to settle her potential condemnation claim and until that was done she should not pay rent."

"No new offer was forthcoming and the next thing she knew was a reporter from the News who lived on Dean Street calling to tell her she was being evicted. She was never served and went down to the premises for a copy of the pleadings. She is upset that there is an impression that she is a deadbeat.”

article

In another lawsuit - a bilked nets investor, claimed that when he asked Ratner to make good on his word, Ratner could not recall and said "as you know I have a memory problem" (no you don't Bruce, you have an ethics problem) .

Considering that, the outright attempted lease swindle co-ordinated with Shaya Bolygreen, who are we to believe here? As reported elsewhere Bruce Ratner was perfectly willing to kick out Brookyn Tech students to build luxury condos, so its safe to assume he's willing to kick out pre-school children. He lied about giving campaign contributions to politicians - which he funnels through family friends like 'crusading civil rights lawyer ' (except where Ratner family interests are concerned) Michael Ratner, he has repeatedly lied or tried to conceal the scale of the project, his profit from it, the amount of subsidies...well, you get the picture. He is greed, personified.

As usual, he got the supine press to do his bidding for him, as usual, Norman Oder reports what the Daily News left out.

In Multicultural England, Young White Girls Lives of No Value.

The "money quote": I was told by one police officer that he did not ‘want to start a race riot’ by arresting Pakistani men for sexual offences,”

The only question now is, how much longer will Anglo-Saxon men tolerate this? Will we be such slaves to political correctness that we will sit around and watch young women be brutalized by these animals? If we do, then we deserve to vanish as a people. But, I think if the provocations continue, and the government continues to encourage more of it by mass immigration and cuddling minorities - than eventually the deeply wired natural human reactions will occur, and that will not be pretty. As noted elsewhere on this blog....there is no deadlier force on earth than a furious Saxon. Article:

Mothers of prevention

Schoolgirls in Lancashire and Yorkshire are falling prey to sinister gangs of pimps. Two men have been sent to jail, but the girls’ mothers, not the police, are at the forefront of the crackdown. Why are the authorities so reluctant to get involved?
Investigation by Julie Bindel

A t the crown court in Preston on August 10, a trial involving two Asian men caused unusual interest across a number of cities in the north of England. The defendants, Zulfqar Hussain and Qaiser Naveed, were each sentenced to five years and eight months for abduction, sexual activity with a child, and the supply of a controlled drug.

They had both pleaded guilty, and they were placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.

It seemed a shabby, seedy episode, probably typical of many cases down the years that have involved exploitative men and naive women. Yet, until these convictions, the police in over a dozen towns and cities, including Leeds, Sheffield, Blackburn and Huddersfield, had appeared reluctant to address what many local people had perceived as a growing problem – the groups of men who had been preying on young, vulnerable girls and ensnaring them into prostitution.

It was a very uncomfortable scenario, not least because many of these crimes had an identifiable racial element: the gangs were Asian and the girls were white. The authorities, in the shape of politicians and the police, seemed reluctant to acknowledge this aspect of the crimes; it has been left to the mothers of the victims to speak out.

Maureen’s daughter Jo was one of Hussain and Naveed’s victims, having been groomed by them and a number of other Asian men when she was 14. Jo went missing from her Blackburn home 90 times during the six-month period in 2005 that she was in Hussain and Naveed’s clutches.

“I was told by one police officer that he did not ‘want to start a race riot’ by arresting Pakistani men for sexual offences,” Maureen said. During the six months that Jo was in the clutches of these men, they raped, beat and abused her to the point where, says her mother, she did not even know who she was any more. Eventually, after she was attacked by Hussain and Naveed with an iron bar, Jo somehow found the courage to report them to police, and they were arrested. The case took 16 months to come to court. In the meantime, other pimps, undeterred by the impending trial, continued to go about their business.

So what are the police doing? Lancashire police say that in the past few months they have sent letters to 70 men who were believed to be spending an unusual amount of time with young girls. The letters warn the men that the girls are underage; the men are required to sign the letter, confirming they have received and read it.

The details are left on file – but there is no guarantee that the police will take any further action if the grooming continues.

Blackburn, in common with many northern towns, is experiencing a huge upsurge in pimping, and it is an unpalatable truth for the authorities – and indeed the police – that many of the newest wave of pimps come from within the Asian community. Research, conducted in 2005 and involving 106 families seeking help from the Leeds-based campaigning organisation Coalition for the Removal of Pimping (Crop), found that in Yorkshire alone more than 30 girls were sexually exploited, with some being forced into prostitution, by what Crop says are predominantly Asian networks. As many as 200 families have gone to the organisation for advice.

Many affected parents are unhappy with the police response. As this piece goes to press, the families are meeting lawyers to discuss possible action against the police. This could result in the biggest civil action ever brought against police for failing to protect children from sexual predators.

Alice Knowles, a chief inspector and the officer with responsibility for Operation Engage, set up by the police and the local authority in Blackburn to tackle the sex-grooming problem, insists her force takes a robust approach to tackling the problem of sexual predators such as Hussain and Naveed. “We work very closely with social services and other agencies to educate and prevent young people becoming victims, and to target and arrest offenders,” says Knowles. She believes the recent sentencing of Hussain and Naveed reflects the serious nature of this crime, and that police will “continue to work very hard to demonstrate that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated in Lancashire”.

The Mall in Blackburn is popular as a meeting place for the town’s young men and women. Set on two floors, with over 100 high-street stores, it is brightly lit and usually busy. It teems with young women with pushchairs, elderly people window-shopping, and teenagers meeting up with their friends. The crackle of security guards’ radios mingles with the cheesy piped music.

Not everyone is there to shop. Well-dressed Asian teenage boys can be found on the lookout for young white girls, following them around those stores that sell cheap jewellery and perfume. Meanwhile, older men sit on the benches, watching their workers and potential recruits in action. The older men are “employing” the boys to chat up the girls and eventually hand them over.

The Mall is widely known locally as the Lap because of the way young men and girls circle around the arcade, seeking each other out. The girls, keen to hook up with a boyfriend, call it “doing the Lap”. Young men stop to chat to the giggling girls, teasing and flirting. To many, they look like any other group of teenagers. One security guard, asked if the men are pimps, said he neither knew nor cared. “It’s the girls,” he says, “they love the Pakis. We can’t get a look in.” Nearby, a young man takes two of the girls into a shop, where he buys them make-up and perfume. Later on, the groups of men move on to the Vue cinema complex near Blackburn station. The younger men are on bicycles, the older ones in expensive-looking cars, sound systems blaring out bhangra and gangster rap. Girls begin to approach them, and are soon driven away in cars by the older men. It is possible that they are taken to “slag houses”, where they will be sold for sex.

Meanwhile, at the Lap and the Vue, the young men swagger up and down the road wearing gold chains and diamond earrings, and clicking their fingers at girls hovering close by.

Gemma cannot remember ever being happy, although her mother, Anni, says she was a contented child until she reached the age of 13. That was the day she fell out of puppy love. It was the day that Amir, her 24-year-old boyfriend, chose to brutally rape her.

Gemma had been introduced to Amir by a 15-year-old boy at her Blackburn school. A shy girl with little confidence, she was extremely flattered when she was charmed and actively pursued by the boy, who was thought of by many of the girls at her school as a “dish”. When Gemma became enamoured of her new boyfriend, he introduced her to his 24-year-old “cousin”, who began plying her with cannabis and alcohol. She initially enjoyed feeling “grown-up” and rebelling against her parents. Soon, Anni noticed dramatic changes in Gemma’s behaviour and appearance.

The date Gemma was raped was important – Amir, a seasoned pimp, was well aware of the law. If anyone has sex with a girl under 13, there is a strong risk of being arrested for having sex with a minor. Once they reach 13, however, unless the victim makes a complaint to the police, nothing will happen. Recommendations following the Soham murders clearly state that police should arrest in cases where older males have sex with a child under the age of 16. However, police rarely take action unless the victim complains, thereby allowing the pimps and their customers to act with impunity.

From Gemma, and other girls in her situation, there will be no complaint to the authorities. They are afraid to give evidence, or refuse to.

“That is why I am so proud of Jo,” says Maureen, talking immediately after Hussain and Naveed were sentenced. “Although she had been through the most horrendous physical and mental torture at the hands of those two, she somehow found the courage to go to the police.”

The pimps are, of course, highly manipulative. Ensnaring vulnerable and unconfident girls, they make them dependent by giving expensive gifts and constant compliments. After embarking on a sexual relationship with them, the abusers begin to control them with threats and brutality, before selling them to other men for sex. There are obvious signs for parents to look out for, experts say. Girls transforming from childish and naive to angry, hardened and overtly sexualised, and coming home drunk, smelling of smoke, truanting from school and going missing from home.

“The abuse these girls suffer is horrendous,” says Aravinda Kosaraju, a researcher at Crop, which has in the past been funded by the Home Office and has recently received a large lottery grant in order to develop its work. “The pimps even use pregnancy as a form of punishment,” says Kosaraju. “We worked with two girls who were made pregnant by customers and then forced to have backstreet abortions.” Crop was founded by the late Irene Ivison, a mother of three who died during a routine operation. Her daughter Fiona, a bright girl from a happy home in Sheffield, was lured by a pimp masquerading as her boyfriend when she was 14. Having been successfully groomed, by the time she was 17 she was dead, murdered by a customer.

Crop researchers have been tracking the pimping gangs for over a decade, and have built up a valuable database of knowledge about the pimping gangs, based on hundreds of stories from parents and victims. However, the pimps are largely able to operate with impunity. “If we had not pushed and pushed about this issue,” says Anni, “I believe that Hussain and Naveed would still be out there, just like my child’s abusers are.”

Anni, along with other affected mothers, has put pressure on the police to respond by using the local press to back their campaign for justice.

Blackburn is Jack Straw’s constituency, and both Anni and Maureen have visited him to beg for help. “I have had two cases at my constituency surgery over the past two years,” Straw said, “and have discussed this with the police, council, community leaders and the Lancashire Telegraph.” The paper launched the Keep Them Safe campaign last year, following an investigation of several cases of Asian pimping gangs.

Under the control of the pimps, the girls develop something akin to Stockholm syndrome, where they begin to have empathy and sympathy for their abusers. Shirley Gorek, a former social worker employed by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council to advise on child sexual exploitation, has run support groups for girls caught up with pimps. She found the girls can get completely brainwashed by their abusers. “It is almost as if they are programmed into a cult,” she says. “There is often no getting through to them.”

The pimps’ methods of brainwashing often rely on making the victim feel responsible for their welfare. “Amir got me into prostitution by making me feel sorry for him,” says Gemma. “He said he was in debt to his landlord, and I was the only way he could make money. I would have done anything for him.”

Not all the girls are from disadvantaged backgrounds. A recent national survey by Barnardo’s found that, of underage children selling sex, nearly half still lived with their families, with only 14% being in care.

Pimping is lucrative. According to the Metropolitan Police Vice Squad, a pimp can make £300,000 to £400,000 a year selling a 16-year-old girl. There is, appallingly, no shortage of men who wish to buy them. The criminals often use the girls themselves to recruit their neighbours and school friends into the gangs. One mother, who used to drive around the town looking for her daughter when she went missing, says she once saw an older teenage girl apply make-up to two young girls in the street, while older Asian men, whom she recognised as pimps, waited by their BMWs. “The girls then were told to perform a ‘sexy dance’ for them,” says Jean. “But they were so young! I had watched them skipping earlier.”

Despite evidence from rigorous research by organisations such as Crop that the gangs are largely made up of men from the Pakistani Muslim communities, many are determined to downplay this. “What we’re dealing with is gross criminality,” says Kosaraju. “That should be confronted whatever the race of the perpetrator.”

Mike Cunningham, an assistant chief constable with Lancashire police, says he is aware that several recent cases reported to police in Lancashire have involved Asian men, but that the issue of sexual grooming of young girls is not based solely on race or culture.

“Offenders can and do come from a variety of cultural backgrounds,” says Cunningham, “and we deal with each case on its own individual merit.” He says he is not aware of “any accusations of racism from the accused or their respective communities”.

Historically, many of Britain’s pimps have come from immigrant communities – Jews in the early 20th century, Jamaicans and Maltese in the 1950s and ’60s. White, British-born pimps have tended to operate as individuals, rather than within criminal gangs. In recent years, however, young Asian men have been operating in formal, organised networks in the north of England, particularly in the impoverished towns with high unemployment and racial disharmony.

Taxi drivers, shop owners and security guards who work in the shopping arcades where the girls are recruited are also involved, one police officer (who asked not to be named) told me.

“Police seem to be very cautious about this. They fear being branded racist,” says Mohammed Shafiq, the press spokesman for the Ramadhan Foundation, a Muslim youth education charity based in Rochdale. Shafiq recently tried to address some imams and community leaders, but did not get very far. “They all had a ‘no comment’ policy,” says Shafiq, “but our organisation is clear that it is going on, and that it is linked to drug dealing. We can’t simply blame the BNP.”

As well as simple opportunism, pimping of white females by black and ethnic-minority men can be a type of revenge against whites. “My parents ran a grocery shop,” says Hussein, who admits to being part of the pimping gangs in the late 1990s. “They had hardly any money, even though they worked their backsides off. White people treated them like shit, like they were their servants.” Hussein says he took “great pleasure” in having young white girls at his beck and call, knowing their parents would be out of their minds with worry. Although Hussein was reported to the police, he was never arrested for any crime, and is now working in Leeds.

The issue of black and Asian men being labelled “pimps” is deeply contentious, but not, say parents, a reason for police to turn a blind eye. It can, and does, however, fuel racism. Black men and pimping are linked through popular culture – from the African American Iceberg Slim’s classic autobiographical novel, Pimp, to the glamorised depictions of pimping by hip hop and rap artists.

In 2004, a controversial documentary on the topic of Asian pimps, Edge of the City, focused on the mothers of two girls being pimped by Pakistani gangs in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

But before it could be screened, a number of black and Asian groups, media such as the newspaper Eastern Eye, and websites including Blink (Black Information Link) organised an e-mail petition to pressurise Channel 4 into pulling the programme, arguing that its makers’ sole purpose was to perpetuate racism against Asian communities. The channel received over 500 e-mails in protest. The BNP capitalised on the row by hinting that all Asian men were a sexual threat to white girls.

Originally due to be screened in May 2004, three years after the Bradford race riots, the documentary was pulled from the schedule at the request of the West Yorkshire Police. A spokesman at the time said police had found no evidence of the alleged systematic exploitation, and the chief constable of West Yorkshire Police warned Channel 4 that he felt the timing of the programme could contribute to community unrest in Bradford and possibly even provoke public disorder in the city.

A number of families affected by Pakistani pimping gangs have said that police inaction and the refusal of white liberals to acknowledge the problem has resulted in more girls being at risk than ever before. “We are still battling to get recognition that what we are dealing with is organised crime against children,” says Kosaraju.

Sunny Hundal, editor of the online magazine Asians in Media, has followed the phenomenon of Asian pimping gangs. “Although it’s obvious that it’s young, lawless Pakistani boys,” says Hundal, “it’s tricky to make this an issue about race or religion when neither are contributing factors.” However, he does believe some young Asian men “hold very disparaging attitudes towards white girls, thinking they’re ‘easy’”.

Jean is a lively woman in her forties, living with two of her three children in a neat terraced house in the east side of Blackburn. Her daughter Sally, coming up to her 16th birthday, is now estranged from her as a result of being brainwashed and abused by men from the Asian pimping gangs. “Sally was a shy girl before this happened,” says Jean, “and dressed fairly demurely, but all of a sudden she was wearing heavy make-up and dressed like a prostitute. At that stage I had no idea what was going on.”

Jean’s eldest daughter, Sally, was targeted at school at 13 by slightly older Asian boys. They were on the payroll of older men who run pimping operations in the town. The modus operandi of the gangs is that pimps employ school-aged boys to make the initial connection with suitable girls and befriend them. The girls are then introduced to men they are told are older relatives of the boys. The older men take them out in flash cars and buy them gifts. Soon, however, it is payback time, and the girls are sold to men from private flats, hotels and cars.

“All of a sudden Sally was only interested in hanging out with Pakistani boys,” says Jean. “She started saying I was racist, and that is why I objected to her hanging out with them.”

Jean was soon to find out just how indoctrinated her daughter had become when she discovered Sally’s photographs and profile were posted on a website. She was posing with the flag of Pakistan. There were 97 names of Asian men posted on it who had made contact with her. She was asking for Asian men to “date”. She said she hated white people. There were other girls’ photographs on the site, one of whom Sally had recruited, as were other girls who were being pimped. Jean’s boyfriend went online, pretending to be a girl. One of the men asked: “Are you better than Sally?”

Preying on her shyness and vulnerability, the pimps told Sally she was beautiful and would be treated like a princess if she showed them loyalty. They also convinced her that her family did not care about her, saying her parents would think she was a “slag” for having Pakistani boyfriends. “We parents are doing more to investigate these criminals than the police,” says Jean. “My husband and I have sat for hours outside hot spots, taking down car-registration numbers. I have given the police dozens of names from my daughter’s mobile phone, but they have done nothing.”

The pimps are adept at trading on teenage rebellion and use similar methods, according to Crop, of convincing the girls all white people are racist. This is part of the controlling process, to instil guilt in the girls. “Like most teenagers, I was going through a phase of arguing with my mum,” says Gemma. “Amir told me they didn’t understand me and were racist and ignorant. I believed him.” Gemma was given an Asian name by Amir, and told she had to read the Koran, a story support workers tell me is not uncommon. “They erode the girls’ identities,” says Kosaraju, “to make them more compliant and needy.”

Few of the girls know, or are willing to acknowledge, they are being pimped. Because they claim to love the men, and think of them as their boyfriends, police often see that as an admission from the girls of consent. “As far as I was concerned, Amir was my boyfriend,” says Gemma. “When he told me I had to sleep with his friends, I had no idea he was being paid for it. I was on a lot of drugs and he said I had to pay for them.”

Where there is pimping, there are other forms of serious and organised crime. Some Asian pimps in Rotherham are also involved in drug dealing and gun crime. Although shootings in the town are rare, the girls caught up with the pimps have disclosed that many of them carry guns. Pimps traffic the girls between towns and cities. The United Kingdom Human Trafficking Centre (UKHTC) has appointed Amanda Palmer, a detective sergeant, to investigate trafficking within the UK. “There is no doubt that, according to current law, these girls have been trafficked,” says Palmer, “but to date, there has not been a conviction under this legislation.”

One of the many tragedies resulting from this phenomenon is how it is fuelling racism and mistrust of whites towards Pakistanis where little existed previously. Although racism can be rife in towns such as Blackburn, Jean claims that before her daughter’s life was ruined she bore no animosity towards the Asian community. Things have changed. When ordering a taxi, Jean spends several minutes looking through the telephone directory, explaining she is looking for a “white-run firm”. “If an Asian man came to my door, I might have a flashback, and go mad,” says Jean.

In the meantime, organisations such as Crop continue battling with the police to act on the intelligence they have built up. Progress may be round the corner in the shape of the legal action the parents have started – and many parents I spoke to are feeling cautiously optimistic after the convictions of Hussain and Naveed. “This is just the beginning,” says Maureen, “but I think it will have sent a message to other abusers that the net is closing in on them and they can no longer get away it.”

Gemma’s pimp tired of her when she turned 16, but she still has a drug habit and is irrevocably damaged from the sexual torture and degradation she endured. Although many young women do escape the clutches of these predators and go on to repair their lives, some will be drawn into street prostitution, violent relationships and self-harming lifestyles.

Jean’s daughter Sally is in foster care, but is still being picked up regularly by pimps and raped by men who do not even know her name. She is now totally estranged from her mother, whom she recently threatened to stab. “I keep having nightmares about what they have done to her,” says Jean, “and about what her life has become. I want to kill them. I have told police to go and do something, or I might lose control and do something myself.”

In all of these cities, victims such as Sally are facing an explosive mix of brutality and denial – from the authorities and the Pakistani community. It seems easier for many people to pretend it is not happening. The girls involved just don’t have that choice.

All of the names of victims and their relatives have been changed to protect identities
