Mamlukes, and Early Experiment In Outscourcing.

Outsourcing is another one of those magic bullets that are supposed to save us. Its taking jobs away? Never mind...Tim Ferriss assures us that we can just work four hours a week while we travel around the world, save the environment, get involves in pseudo spirituality and a host of other shallow "experiences". Everything can be outsourced - even sending flowers to your wife and (I am not making this up) getting your kids to go to bed... ...with all the free time Ferriss has, did he ever pick up a book and read up on the Mamlukes? They were an early experiment in outsourcing. You see the Sultans and Pashas of Egypt got bored with the drudgery of running their empires -it detracted from the Harem, poetry and other delights...so they conscripted Mamlukes to do the hard business of running the empire. One day, the Mamlukes figured it out: If we're running things in everything but name only, why not eliminate the middle man. And they did.

How long will it be before those hard working Indians figure out the same thing?

Obama runs the oldest play in the book: Blame Whitey

As usual, white liberals and the media, ever searching for their JFK holy grail and ever hoping to atone for 'white privilege" ignore the meat of Obama's speech -the same old race hustling politics. Fortunately we have Pat Buchanan:

The "white community" must invest more money in black schools and communities, enforce civil rights laws, ensure fairness in the criminal justice system and provide this generation of blacks with "ladders of opportunity" that were "unavailable" to Barack's and the Rev. Wright's generations.

What is wrong with Barack's prognosis and Barack's cure?

Only this. It is the same old con, the same old shakedown that black hustlers have been running since the Kerner Commission blamed the riots in Harlem, Watts, Newark, Detroit and a hundred other cities on, as Nixon put it, "everybody but the rioters themselves."

Collapsing under the weight of his own greed:

Revealed: Atlantic Yards Is A Sham

Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn says, "We told you so."

The opening paragraphs of Charles Bagli's article in the Times show that the Atlantic Yards project is shaping up to be the sham we have always said it would be.

To be very clear: a project that promised so much to the public, that appears now to be an arena (which only makes money for Bruce Ratner) and one tower (maybe), with very little "affordable housing" at all, is a sham.

NolandGrab:What Will Be Left of Gehry’s Vision for Brooklyn?

The NY Times
By Nicolai Ouroussoff

Frank Gehry fan and Times architecture critic Nicky O digests the grim realities of Bruce Ratner's controversial Atlantic Yards plan...

Of course, corrupt, greedy Bruce Ratner doesn't care if his project is financially unsound, ugly, poorly planned and as reflected in the callous security concerns - unsafe - Bruce Ratner cares about how much taxpayer money and government subsidies he can get his greasy, corrupt fat fingers on.

The Times is beginning to realize that AY is a poorly planned project...will they acknowledge that is it is a corrupt one as well?

Globalization for your...Federal Aid for us.

The champions of the 'free' market get bailed out again.. i guess open borders and free trade are good... Except when it applies to them, of course.

Federal aid for Bear Stearns questioned
http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D8VDDSOO0.htm
The Federal Reserve's unprecedented intervention on behalf of Bear Stearns Cos. was intended to ease fallout from the credit crunch, but experts fear it augurs more government bailouts as the crisis worsens.

A bully only picks on....

Tibetan protesters defy march ban
Why does China have most favorite nation status again, and why do we not attack it for being so undemocratic? Yet we attack Iraq to impose 'demockracy'??

Do You Have to Be Honorable To Be Honored?

apparently not.

Bad Taste Isn't Just Restricted To Their Modernist Paintings...

Considering what they did to the exterior of one of the finer beaux arts buildings in Brooklyn:

Is a small scale version of the big scar Ratner wants to build over Brooklyn..

If anything it represents failed stewardship - an institution that was built by previous generations and abused by the present- and institution whose strength rests on artists like Sargent and Homer but continuously mocks and insults the culture they came from. The hideous modern exterior and the third rate modernist paintings inside are a reflection of the rotten leadership now at the helm of the museum. Rather than address their own poor judgment, they think that heaping praise on crappy art will somehow make it beautiful and 'honoring' Ratner will somehow make him honorable. And so it goes for the borough as well. Praising Ratner's very bad plans will somehow make them good.

Yes, on second thought its very fitting for our current 'elite' to be so out of touch with reality that they would be doing something like this on the eve of..."who knows what tomorrow will bring" times.

One in Four Women in Teens Have S.T.D.’s, Study Finds

One in Four Women in Teens Have S.T.D.’s, Study Finds
By LAWRENCE K. ALTMAN

The first national study of common sexually transmitted diseases among teenage women has found that one in four are infected with at least one of the diseases, federal health officials reported on Tuesday.

Nearly half of African-American teenage women were infected with at least one of the diseases monitored in the study — human papillomavirus (H.P.V.), chlamydia, herpes simplex type 2 and trichomoniasis, a common parasite.

That figure compared with 20 percent of white teenage women.

The two most common sexually transmitted diseases (S.T.D.’s) among all the women tested were H.P.V. at 18 percent and chlamydia at 4 percent according to the analysis, which was part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

Among the infected women, 15 percent had more than one.

Officials of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that the findings underscore the need for strengthening screening, vaccination and other prevention measures for S.T.D.’s, which are among the country’s highest public health priorities.

“High S.T.D. infection rates among young women, particularly young African-American women, are clear signs that we must continue developing ways to reach those most at risk,” said Dr. John M. Douglas Jr., who directs the centers’ division of S.T.D. prevention.

Federal health officials ask about different health and nutrition issues in the survey, which is conducted each year. The S.T.D. analysis was based on information collected in the 2003-04 survey.

Draconian Spitzer's at it Again.

John Zmirak writes about Gov. Spitzer’s attempt to declare abortion a “fundamental right” and threaten the licenses of doctors and hospitals which refuse to perform abortions:

Persecution Creeps Up on Christians
Posted by John Zmirak on March 07, 2008

The role of Cassandra is classically a thankless one. Point to danger signs too early, and you’re dismissed as a nut. Wait until it’s obvious, and you’re too late. You can’t win, so you might as well tell the truth: It’s distinctly ominous how many government agencies, courts, and legislatures across the West are forcing Christians to act against their conscience--and threatening those who resist with bankruptcy or jail. In England, Catholic adoption agencies can’t insist on placing children with heterosexual couples. In Germany, it’s still illegal to home school (has been since Hitler), and the EU is upholding that law--packing off children of home-schoolers to psychiatric facilities. In Belgium, a bishop might go to jail for criticizing homosexual behavior.
........

I know, this happened in California--which strangely remains doggedly left wing and anti-Catholic in its policies, despite the influx of all those immigrants with “family values” (encouraged by the likes of Cardinal Roger Mahony) and the local Republican party’s abandonment of border control and “outreach” to Hispanics. (Funny, how Peter Brimelow was right about that one....)

But courts in big states set the trend for smaller ones. And California isn’t alone. In New York, the Catholic bishops conference has shown admirable chutzpah in standing up to Gov. Spitzer’s attempt to declare abortion a “fundamental right” and threaten the licenses of doctors and hospitals which refuse to perform abortions, producing a video and cannily uploading it straight to Youtube:

Of course such decisions affect millions of religious believers of various faiths, and constitute an ongoing assault by cultural leftists with a taste for totalitarian tactics on the right of religious Americans simply to be left alone. As I’ve argued here before, Leviathan in America is structurally biased to favor secularism--which means that we should fight the beast, tooth and nail. But in the meantime, what should administrators of Catholic hospitals actually do, if laws are passed requiring them to become complicit in murder? Meekly play along, circulate petitions among the nurses (like my sister) who’d really rather not go home with innocent blood on their hands? Attempt to mitigate the damage, and keep on relieving suffering, even at this price? Instead, I’ll second the plan offered by the late Cardinal John O’Connor, when he was faced with a law like this. He said that rather than cooperate, he would close every single Catholic hospital, and send all the patients to public hospitals for care. That’s a very good plan.

But here’s another: Give all those hospitals to the Moslems. Between multicultural guilt and the fear of “explosive” consequences, something tells me Governor Spitzer would find some way to compromise.

This is all true, only this week, Harvard is started having women's only hours in health clubs to appease Muslims - why the overt hostility towards Christianity and supine approach to Muslims? Is it:

a. Muslims threaten violence?
b. The left is heavily influenced by East European Jews with an animosity (and that's a polite way to describe it) towards Christianity that often masks itself behind left wing ideas?

A little of both? My gut and personal experience lead me to believe that B is behind quite a bit of it, but in countries like Sweden a similar pattern emerges. Could be that marxist thought it just anti-western and Christianity is 'the religion of the west'.

There is another interesting angle about this blatant attempt to impose ideology on Catholics - if the church really did just shut down all of its hospitals who would receive blame for the displaced patients? My guess is the New York Times and others would spin it that 'Catholic intolerance' was the to blame - but in reality its scum like Spitzer who live off of and manipulate the good graces of Christians who are always supposed to be turn the other cheek...so if some loud mouthed asshole like Spitzer causes a stink about Christmas tree's we're supposed to take them down instead of sinking to their level...the problem however, is that everything does sink to their level.

Mayor Slashes Budget Again, But Fat Still Remains...

As in fat-ass Bruce Ratner's pork - apparently the only thing immune to budget cuts- middle, working class New Yorkers will have to pay more for transit, while still paying the same tax rate, will suffer cut backs in city services, but billionaire Bruce Ratner's boondoggle is rolling in dough:

AY financing documents have been signed, city official confirms

A city official has finally confirmed that both the city and state have "executed and registered" financing documents regarding Atlantic Yards, and $55 million of public funds has been distributed. The exact nature of the deals had been in question, as Atlantic Yards Ombudsman Forrest Taylor in early January indicated they haven't been signed. (It may be, however, that more financing documents remain to be signed.)

Bloomberg then has the gaul to blame the state!

Mayor Bloomberg demands from city agencies $500M more in budget cuts

Seem unfair? Guess what, it is!
