Just How Crazy Can the UK Get?

A SCHOOL was yesterday accused of MAKING teachers dress up as Asians for a day – to celebrate a Muslim festival.

Kids at the 257-pupil primary have also been told to don ethnic garb even though most are Christians.

The morning assembly will be open to all parents – but dads are BARRED from a women-only party in the afternoon because Muslim husbands object to wives mixing with other men.

Just two members of staff – a part-time teacher and a teaching assistant – are Muslim.

Yesterday a relative of one of the 39 others said: “Staff have got to go along with it – or let’s face it, they would be branded racist.

“Who would put their job on the line? They have been told they have to embrace the day to show their diversity. But they are not all happy.”

The day aims to belatedly mark Eid, the end of Ramadan.

Sally Bloomer, head of Rufford primary school in Lye, West Midlands, insisted: “I have not heard of any complaints.

“It’s all part of a diversity project to promote multi-culturalism.

Yes, this is the same UK where English Flags, hot Cross buns and Christmas trees are banned, and apparently, so called equality between the sexes isn't it concern either. So what's going on here? Why are leftists so willing to promote a a. religion b. one that is openly discriminatory? Because their only goal is destroy the west. At this point what can we do? It seem the elite - the ones promoting these policies - have made a complete disconnect and are openly and aggressively promoting policies made to destroy the indigenous populations of Western countries. It can only go one way....now its just a question of when.

Is Bollywood Backsliding?

Last night I saw a Heyy Babyy mainly because I have seen great potential in actress Vidya Balan in previous films Parineeta and even her smaller role in Eklavya...granted it was meant to be 'light' entertainment, but it was the kind of film, I think that used to make Indians cringe when Westerners saw them:

Granted India's average age is much lower than ours, their market often includes illiterate/barely literate villagers, but I don't think this film was aimed at them - such films are usually much more family oriented. This was just bad, sophomoric crap, and even Vidya was flat and uninteresting. I sat there empathetic to that 'cringe' feeling many Indians probably get, since I have been not wont to praise Indian filmmaking in the past. Granted most films are duds for my finicky taste in both Hollywood and Bollywood, but there has not been, in my opinion one really worthwhile film since Lage Raho Munabi - Eklavya was ok - but not really the epic it wanted to be, Salaam e Ishque was about the biggest waste of talent I have ever seen, even the trying to be serious Guru - though it had a good soundtrack felt uninspired - after all, how interesting can a film be about a polyester manufacturer?

Was the brief period starting with oh Laagoon (even though I hated that, peppered by movies like Devdas, my beloved Parineeta, Veer Zara, Black and Swades and even fairly good comedies like Hum Tum, just a temporary bubble and not its back to bad business as usual? Let's hope not - there are too many good actors and actresses - like Vidya Balan, Khan(s) Shah Ruk, Saif, and composers like Raman and playback singers like Shreya Goshal, Alka Yagnik and so on.

And Liberals Accuse Fundementalists of Wanting to Return to the Dark Ages?

Along with Sailer, Buchanan is the only writer I know, to date who has defended Watson, not even Watson will do that anymore. Much as both Sailer and Buchanan make references to the inquisition, I see no evidence of anything more than social pressure which makes it all the more dispicible. How did we becomes such a nation of whimps? Watson has already resigned from his post, what more can they do to him? Why did he 'recant'? Well he was threatened with prosecution in Britian (still think we live in a 'free society' when a scientist cannot question dogma??) Anyway Buchanan on Watson:

The recantation of Dr. Watson

For Dr. James Watson, 79-year-old co-winner of the 1962 Nobel Prize for medicine for his discovery of the double-helix structure of DNA, October marked the nadir of a brilliant career.

........

Last week, his lecture was canceled, his tour terminated, his 40-year tenure as chancellor of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island came to an end. Across Britain, he was being denounced as a racist.

What had the wicked Dr. Watson done?

Did he defend the chattel slavery in which five of our first seven presidents engaged? No. Did he agree with Abraham Lincoln that blacks did not deserve equal social and political rights and should be sent back to the continent whence their ancestors came? No. Did he argue for the segregation that was the law in the nation's capital in which this writer grew up? No. Did he utter the "N-word" used by Harry Truman, who integrated the armed forces, and Lyndon Johnson, who enacted the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965? No.

Watson neither endorsed segregation nor expressed any animus toward people of color. He had simply told the Sunday Times he was "inherently gloomy about the prospects of Africa" because "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours – whereas all the testing says not really."

........

In his new book, Watson adds, "There is no firm reason to anticipate that the intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their evolution should prove to have evolved identically. Our wanting to reserve equal powers of reason as some universal heritage of humanity will not be enough to make it so."

What Watson was saying was: From a long life and his own reading of IQ test scores, he believes that intelligence is not distributed equally among the races. That conclusion was also reached by social scientists Richard Herrnstein and Charles Murray in the 1990s best-seller "The Bell Curve." The SAT scores seem to bear them out.

When Watson's remarks hit print, however, a new London blitz began.

The Labor Party chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee charged Watson with "baseless, unscientific and extremely offensive comments" and urged his colleagues to "reject what appear to be Dr. Watson's personal prejudices."

"Anti-racism campaigners called for Dr. Watson's remarks to be looked at in the context of racial hatred laws," said the Independent. Said Steven Rose, a founder of the Society for Social Responsibility in Science, "This is Watson at his most scandalous."

The Telegraph quoted Koku Adomdza, director of the black pressure group The 1990 Trust, as calling Watson a "complete dinosaur" and demanding he apologize to "Africa and all people of African origin."

Added Adomdza: "Dr. Watson is really a relic of the oldest stock and deserves to be made to account for his extremely offensive and ignorant remarks. ... His very poisonously racist opinions put students and the unsuspecting public at serious risk."

Of these thought police, almost all, it may be fairly said, are academic mediocrities or political hacks who could not carry Watson's microscope. Yet as the scrub stock piled on, the Nobel Prize winner appeared to buckle.

I am "mortified," Watson said, burbling this recantation.

"To all those who have drawn the inference from my words that Africa, as a continent, is somehow genetically inferior, I can only apologize unreservedly. That is not what I meant. More importantly, from my point of view, there is no scientific basis for such a belief."

Sad. Why, with all his honors, prestige and security, did Dr. Watson feel the necessity to apologize for what he wrote, said and believes? Why did he not play the man by flipping off the censors? If they were going to take away his chancellorship, why not go down fighting?

In the England of Henry VIII, heretics were beheaded and their heads put on spikes. Many men, like Thomas More, did not recant.

From the time of Tiberias to the 17th century, men gave up their lives rather than renounce a belief in God. Others gave up their lives rather than renounce a disbelief in the Church. Why could Watson not stand up for his disbelief in the ideological myth of the inherent equality of all men, cultures, creeds and civilizations?

In 1990, the respected journal Science wrote, "To many in the scientific community, Watson has been something of a wild man. ... Colleagues tend to hold their collective breath when he speaks out."

Too bad the wild man was denatured and domesticated.

I am still asking, where is Mr In Your Face Attack Creationists for Being Ignorant Richard Dawkins? Dawkins is the worst kind of coward - propped up by similarly cowardly liberals as 'brave' for 'taking on' religion yet cowers in the face of the real state religion: Marxist Multiculturalism.

Steve Sailer On the Watson Affair

Worth Re-Printing in Full (I strongly recomend Sailer's blog) my notes appear in blue:

James D. Watson: Broken By The PC Inquisition, Betrayed By The Righteous Right

By Steve Sailer

James D. Watson, perhaps the most distinguished living American scientist, has now been kicked to the curb by the Cold Spring Harbor genetics laboratory he rescued and rebuilt over the last 40 years for making politically (but not scientifically) incorrect statements about African IQs.

Watson's crimethink was to say he was

"'inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa' because 'all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours—whereas all the testing says not really.' " [The elementary DNA of Dr Watson, By Charlotte Hunt-Grubbe, TimesOnLine. October 14, 2007]

A few lessons from this shameful affair:
We live in an age that worships conformity and fears and loathes independent thinkers.

As we can see by the enormous number of journalists and bloggers who couldn't wait to put the boot in when the great man was down, and by the negligible number who came forward to defend the co-discoverer of the structure of DNA, the chattering classes of the 21st Century are composed, by and large, of bullies and/or cowards.

Why did so many so enthusiastically sign up as auxiliaries of the Thought Police?

Because it's fun.

The psychology of those who rushed to attack Watson was memorably outlined in Orwell's 1984, when the interrogator O'Brien explains to his prisoner Winston Smith the exciting future envisaged by the Party:

"Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever. …The heretic, the enemy of society, will always be there, so that he can be defeated and humiliated over again. … The more the Party is powerful, the less it will be tolerant: the weaker the opposition, the tighter the despotism. Goldstein and his heresies will live for ever. … Always we shall have the heretic here at our mercy, screaming with pain, broken up, contemptible—and in the end utterly penitent, saved from himself, crawling to our feet of his own accord."
Watson's putative defenders betrayed him.

Out of the vast pile of ephemera published on, say, National Review Online during the week and a half that this disgraceful brouhaha has been going on, Google shows Watson's plight being mentioned once, by John Derbyshire—and not at all by anybody else.

The level of intellectual integrity on the Right—let alone courage—is catastrophically lower today than just 13 years ago, when the John O'Sullivan-edited National Review responded to the publication of The Bell Curve by devoting most of its December 5, 1994 issue to an impressive symposium on race and IQ.[ that was before the NRO became a Neocon rag - they fired Buchanan, Sobran, O'Sullivan and replaced the masthead with proimmigraiton pro wars of choice neocons.]

In it, Richard Herrnstein and Charles Murray's bestseller was attacked by some, but also stoutly defended by Michael Barone, Michael Novak, James Q. Wilson, Dan Seligman, Arthur Jensen, and Ernest Van den Haag.

Where have you gone, Michael Barone? (Or John O’Sullivan, for that matter.)

Another example: As of October 27, a search revealed that not one of the myriad columnists and bloggers at TownHall.com had even mentioned the Watson scandal.

As I noted at the time of the Trent Lott Lynching, a “Righteous Right” has emerged, especially in Washington, which has in effect internalized the left’s hysterical race denial. The betrayal of Watson is further evidence of the profound cost of this development to American public discourse.
bullet Never apologize for a "gaffe" (i.e., the telling of an unpopular truth).

When you beg forgiveness, the hate-filled jackals just smell your fear and weakness. It excites them, so they pile on. [this is probably the most important thing to take away from this essay] Further, the watching crowd can't tell who's right, so they respect whoever seems the master of the situation at the moment.

In his October 19 response in the U.K. Independent, "To question genetic intelligence is not racism," Watson seemingly tried to be subtle, arguing that there was a difference between inferiority and diversity, then pointing out the Darwinian implausibility that everyone could have evolved to be identical [and the left attacks creationists!- Darwin is PC gospel until it contradicts with their political agenda].

Well, swell. But the politically correct don't engage in rational argument. They just hound and bludgeon. So you have to stand your ground.

There is so much agitprop in the media about IQ and race that only aggressive, confident responses can cut through the lies. For example, Watson could have hit back like this:

Q. Is there really such a thing as "intelligence" and can IQ tests measure it?

A. Don't be ignorant. The U.S. military has spent a fortune from WWII onward giving an IQ test to everyone who tries to enlist. The Armed Services have turned away millions of would-be volunteers and draftees because their IQs were too low. How come? Because the Pentagon has done numerous studies showing that on average higher IQ people outperform lower IQ people.

Thus the PC Inquisition has several times tried to destroy the careers of Pat Buchanan and Ann Coulter. But Pat and Ann simply won't let them.

In contrast, as soon as Larry Summers, president of Harvard, started apologizing for telling the truth and offering $50 million in other people's money as payoffs to the Sensitivity Stasi, he was doomed.

As I noted last week, in the epilogue of his new memoir, Avoid Boring People: Lessons from a Life in Science, Watson makes clear his contempt for Summers’ cowardice. Not the least of this tragedy is that, when it came to the point, his own nerve broke too.

Go on the offensive against your critics.

They’re vulnerable. Thus perhaps the most widely quoted smear-artist attacking James Watson has been Steven Rose. Rose is a professor emeritus of neurobiology at the Open University, a sort of British 1960s lefty version of the University of Phoenix. Rose is a Marxist and the co-founder of the boycott Israel movement among British academics.

He was also the co-author, with Leon Kamin and Richard Lewontin, of the 1984 manifesto with the amusingly unprophetic title Not In Our Genes. (Here's Richard Dawkins' scathing review—which led to Rose threatening to sue Dawkins for libel!)

During the attack on Watson, Rose wrote in The Guardian:

"As for freedom of speech, these freedoms are and must be constrained. We don't have the right to casually cry fire in a crowded theatre, or to use hate speech—at least in Europe, as opposed to the US. Watson's now retracted [sic] remarks came into these unacceptable categories. So the repercussions are to be welcomed." [Watson's bad science, October 21, 2007]

Not surprisingly, Steven Rose has been accused of practicing what he preaches: having the government silence scientists whose ideas he dislikes.

According to social scientist Volkmar Weiss, a dissident under the East German Communist dictatorship, Rose ratted him out to the East Berlin regime, setting in motion the crushing in East Germany of IQ research and human behavioral genetics.

Weiss explains this in a 1983 essay entitled The Suppression of Human Behavioral Genetics by the Radical Left—unpublished, for obvious reasons, until 1991. He wrote:

"In 1980, the manuscript of the monograph Psychogenetik (Weiss 1982a) was complete. Now some fierce dogmatists were discovering that a cuckoo’s egg had been laid in the nest of socialism. One example: S. Rose asked his East German colleague, the professor of neurochemistry D. Biesold at the Karl-Marx-University of Leipzig (personal communication by Biesold), whether there was no means of stopping further publications by Weiss, because such publications printed in a socialist country were particularly disadvantageous to the propaganda of the Radical Left in the Western world. …”

Rose’s wish appears to have been the East German Communists’ command:

"[A]t the end of the year 1982 [Walter] Friedrich [director of the Central Institute of Youth Research in Leipzig] sought and obtained the backing of high-ranking officials of the Communist Party and all further research in psychogenetics in East Germany came to an end."

Weiss goes on to describe the aftermath he endured, which would be familiar to anyone who saw the tremendous 2006 film about life in East Germany under the thumb of the secret police, The Lives of Others:

“… the cited author was under the threat of arrest and had already lost all possibility of doing further empirical work of defending his field of research. After 1984, Weiss was forced to work in a quite different field … What follows is the usual story of life and resistance under totalitarian conditions. In order to be published abroad, any new theoretical contributions had to be smuggled out of the GDR."

I asked Weiss about the incident. He replied:

"What I have written and published is completely true.

"However, in 1993 a journalist of a leading English daily (which I do not remember) visited me in Leipzig and tried to confirm my publication by independent sources. At this time [Dietmar] Biesold had already died, his widow did not know anything. Biesold, who had done research together with Rose, had told me about Rose under four eyes [in secret], and there was no witness. Evaluating this, the English daily, afraid to be sued for libeling by Rose, did not publish anything.

"After my publication, Rose had published in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung a note in which he declared that he never was involved in activities against East German scientists. My name and my publication was not explicitly mentioned, and I had never personal contact with Rose. He tried never to be active in any direct way against me and never mentioned or cited me.”

Rose is notoriously litigious (recently threatening to sue for libel the author of a comic book). But the US, no doubt to Rose's displeasure, still has a First Amendment. If Rose wants to dispute the Weiss's account, he is free to write us a letter.

But the bottom line is the same: Watson has been suppressed by brute political force. The Righteous Right ran away.

As after the very similar case of Italy after Galileo, the consequences for science in the Anglosphere could be a new Dark Age.

I guess I can't bitch about how cowardly people are, after all I post from an anon blog...but I can at least, say how brave people are - like Sailer who could probably 'sell out' to the Neocon crowd and become a very well paid journalist (he can run circles around dopes like John Podorhetz). I would note his words here. I predicted the Watson affair was a high water mark for Marxism - on the contrary it could be a high water mark for Anglo-Saxon nations.Who will pick up the slack? Probably Asian nations who aren't too worried about being politically incorrect. What this whole incident has clearly shown, however, is that we live in a time where thought and public discourse is as suppressed and as in much denial of reality as we claim the Muslim world is or the medieval Europe was.

Happy Halloween!

I hope Lonely Planet's Iran guide is a bit more up to date. Perhaps they should consider a warning label:.

After all, the Neocons have blamed most everyone else for the failure of their middle east policy, so I don't doubt they'll blame the poor editors at Lonely Planet as well. James Watson, the High Water Mark for Marxism.

Few Americans are aware of how far Marxist thought pervades both our society and Europe, but nearly all 'PC' thinking, which has had a chilling effect on discourse in our society, is a result of marxist idealogy. The high water mark, in my opinion, came with the turning out of James Watson for publically stating what many people privately believe:

James D. Watson—A Modern Galileo

By Steve Sailer

It's often said that academic politics is so nasty because the stakes are so low.

Yet, as demonstrated once again by the vast uproar aimed at silencing legendary Nobel laureate and co-discoverer of the double helix structure of DNA James D. Watson for daring to mention racial differences in average IQ:

When it comes to genetics and intelligence, academic politics is so vicious because the stakes are so extraordinarily high.

Last year, then-Harvard President Larry Summers was fired from his job presiding over an endowment now worth $34.9 billion largely for pointing out that evil patriarchal discrimination isn't the only reason women don't achieve as much as men do at the very highest levels of math, science, and engineering. Instead, the greater male variance in IQ simply means there are more male geniuses. (And morons, but there aren’t many morons at Harvard, except morally).

Now, Watson, perhaps the second-most famous living scientist after Stephen Hawking, has been suspended by Long Island’s Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for what can only be called, to adopt the prescient totalitarian terminology of Orwell’s 1984, crimethink.

Watson was in Britain to promote his frank new memoir, Avoid Boring People: Lessons from a Life in Science. It is something of a sequel to his 1968 bestseller The Double Helix, which was named the 7th best nonfiction book of the 20th Century in 1999. The Double Helix wasn’t quite that good, but it was still a revealing portrait of just how political and competitive science can be.

Last week, Watson told the Sunday Times of London that he was:

"'inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa' because 'all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours - whereas all the testing says not really.'" [The elementary DNA of Dr Watson, By Charlotte Hunt-Grubbe, October 14, 2007]

He instantly had his sold-out lecture at the Science Museum in London canceled. A spokesdroid for the museum explained:

"We feel Dr. Watson has gone beyond the point of acceptable debate and we are, as a result, cancelling his talk."

By Idang Alibi

A few days ago, the Nobel Laureate, Dr James Watson, made a remark that is now generating worldwide uproar, especially among the blacks.

He said what to me looks like a self-evident truth. He told The Sunday Times of London in an interview that in his humble opinion, black people are less intelligent than the White people.

Since then, some of us cannot hear anything else but the outrage of black people who feel demeaned by what Watson has said. So many people have called the man names. To be expected, some have said he is a racist. Some even wonder how a "foolish" man like Watson could have won the Nobel Prize. Even white people who, deep in their heart, agree with Watson want to be politically, correct so they condemn the man.

Why are we blacks becoming so reactive, so sensitive to any remarks, no matter how well-meaning, about our failure as a race? Why are we becoming like the Jews who see every accusation as a manifestation of anti-Semitism? I do not know what constitutes intelligence. I leave that to our so-called scholars. But I do know that in terms of organising society for the benefit of the people living in it, we blacks have not shown any intelligence in that direction at all. I am so ashamed of this and sometimes feel that I ought to have belonged to another race.

Nigeria my dear country is a prime example of the inferiority of the black race when compared to other races. Let somebody please tell me whether it is a manifestation of intelligence if a people cannot organise a free, fair and credible election to choose who will lead them. Is it intelligence that we cannot provide simple pipe-borne water for the people? Our public school system has virtually collapsed. Is that a sign of intelligence? Our roads are impassable. In spite of the numerous sources that nature has made available to us to tap for energy to run our industries and homes, we have no steady supply of electricity. Yet electricity is the bedrock of industrialisation. When you agree with the school of Watson, some say you are incorrect because all these failures are a result of poor leadership. Why must it be us blacks who must always suffer poor leadership? Is that not a manifestation of unintelligence?

In the name of international trade, bilateral co-operation, globalisation and other subterfuges, the norm in the world today is for smart people to appropriate the wealth of other people for themselves and their countries. But more among the blacks than any other race, the practice is to steal from their own country and salt away to other people's country. Is it intelligence that our leaders steal billions of naira and hide in other people's country?

Anywhere in the world today where you have a concentration of black people among other races, the poorest, the least educated, the least achieving, and the most violent group among those races will be the blacks. When indices of underdevelopment are given, black people and countries are sure to occupy the bottom of the ladder. If we are intelligent, why do we not carry first when statistics of development are given?

Look at the African continent. South Africa is the most developed country because of the presence of whites there. This may be an uncomfortable truth for many of us but it exists nevertheless. If the whites had been driven away after independence, we would have seen a steady decline of that country.

In terms of natural endowment, Africa ought to be the richest of the continents but see the mess we have made of the potential for greatness which God in his infinite wisdom has bestowed upon us. We have proved totally incapable of harnessing the abundant natural resources to become great. Today, there is a renewed scramble for the wealth of Africa. China, our new "friend", does not bother about the genocide against fellow blacks in the Sudan by the Arabs who control the affairs of that country. They say they do not want to interfere in the internal affairs of any country. All they want is the oil in Sudan to run their industries. Yet, we blacks have not seen the Chinese action as an affront to our sensitivities. Every race takes us for granted because we are so weak and so foolish, if you permit me to say it.

I am really pained by our gross underachievement as a race. Instead of regarding bitter truths expressed by the likes of Watson as a wake-up call for us to engage in sober reflection, we take to the expression of woolly sentiment. For me, this type of reaction is a further evidence of our unintelligence. A man of intelligence recognises genuine criticism against him and takes steps to improve himself in order to prove his critics wrong. But for us blacks, our reaction is to abuse the man who expresses worries about our backwardness.

However my point is not whether or not you agree with it the point is that Watson is a nobel prize winning scientist, the co-discoverer of DNA - he was basing is statement on scientific evidence. He was met with name calling and pressure to resign. No one, scientifically challenged him, it was pure power and intimidation. When the establishment reacts to scientific truths and scientific evidence with displays of raw power, it is apparent they are threatened by scientific reality, and that their power or authority rests on ideas in defiance of reality. How long after Galileo's stance to the Catholic church lose and enormous amount of power? Is the same going to happen for the Northern europe /American based 'religion' of cultural marxism? I hope so.

In the "New Europe"

You're jailed for speaking out against homosexuality, or saying you don't want your country replaced by foriengers. If you are a member of a privilidged polictical group you can physically attack people who say these things and not be prosecuted:

Antifa

The attackers, referred to here as “autonomous”, are presumably from the Danish affiliate of Antifa, “Antifascist Action”, the international alliance of anarchist organizations which is active throughout Europe.

This incident highlights one of the risks of planning such a demonstration — you need and want publicity so that people who support you will turn out, but this also tells your enemies

These 'antifacist' groups have propensity for violence and intolerance but are rarely prosecuted either in Europe, America or Canada. They in fact worked closely with the grossly hypocritical 'hatewatch' which eventually disbanded amid controversy.

Christian Parents are Bad Parents.

..in the New World Order:

Bad Parents

A quote from the Daily Mail, 24 October 2007

Vincent and Pauline Matherick will this week have their latest foster son taken away because they have refused to sign new sexual equality regulations. To do so, they claim, would force them to promote homosexuality and go against their Christian faith. The 11-year-old boy, who has been in their care for two years, will be placed in a council hostel this week and the Mathericks will no longer be given children to look after. […]

Earlier this year, Somerset County Council's social services department asked them to sign a contract to implement Labour’s new Sexual Orientation Regulations, part of the Equality Act 2006, which make discrimination on the grounds of sexuality illegal. Officials told the couple that under the regulations they would be required to discuss same-sex relationships with children as young as 11 and tell them that gay partnerships were just as acceptable as heterosexual marriages. They could also be required to take teenagers to gay association meetings.

How far can this madness go? At this point I don't think it will stop until the society decays so much that there will be no society to maintain it. Marxism/PC/Multiculturalism is like cancer that feeds off a healthy body, in maintaining itself it must destroy the host.

The feast day of Saints Crispin and Crispinian is October 25

from wiki:
The Battle of Agincourt was fought on 25 October 1415 (Saint Crispin's Day), in northern France as part of the Hundred Years' War.

The armies involved were those of the English King Henry V and Charles VI of France. Charles did not command his army himself, as he was
incapacitated. The French were commanded by the Constable Charles d'Albret and various prominent French noblemen of the Armagnac party. The battle is notable for the use of the English longbow, which the English used in very large numbers, with longbowmen forming the vast majority of their army.

Saint Crispin's Day

The feast day of Saints Crispin and Crispinian is October 25

What's he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmorland. No, my fair cousin:
If we are marked to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will, I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It ernes me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England:
God's peace, I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more.
Rather proclaim it presently through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart. His passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.

I should also note that the English "giving the finger" derives from Agincourt: the English version is two fingers - like a peace sign - it was a defiant gesture of longbowmen who after the victory, waved them at Frenchmen who were told to cut off the index and middle fingers of any English longbowmen whom they captured.

False Courage: Richard Dawkins:

Professor Dawkins, who as author of the The God Delusion is no stranger to controversy, yesterday declined to comment on Dr Watson's remarks. link

Dawkins is no fool, it would seem. Its OK to say God doesn't exist. It's OK to utterly mock religious people as ignorant, but people who belittle a scientist? Scientific Marxism? No way will Dawkins utter that heresy, for he knows the inquisition will come. He must know he is supported as long as he continues to attack the fabric of Western society - by destroying one of the pillars of the Christian West - the Church (big and small c), he is useful as long as he does that.

Dawkins is always defending reason against "religious ignorance" yet is unwilling to defend Watson...why? It doesn't take a lot of speculation to figure out why.

Ron Paul Leads With Mililtary Voters, HIllary with Arms Industry

Paul leads in donations from military voters, with Obama next

By BENNETT ROTH, RICHARD S. DUNHAM and CHASE DAVIS
Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON — Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, the congressman from the Houston area who opposes the Iraq war, has gotten more contributions than any other White House contender from donors identified as affiliated with the military.

And Fox News tries to belittle him as unpatriotic? Repeatedly, Fox and other mainstream media have tried to shut him out of polls and exposure, only to be trumped by the internet. What are they so scared of? Paul runs on a platform of returning to constitutional government, and we can't have that, can we?

Paul leads with military voters - not the Arms industry like Hillary:

Clinton bucks the trend and rakes in cash from the US weapons industry
By Leonard Doyle in Washington
Published: 19 October 2007

The US arms industry is backing Hillary Clinton for President and has all but abandoned its traditional allies in the Republican party. Mrs Clinton has also emerged as Wall Street's favourite. Investment bankers have opened their wallets in unprecedented numbers for the New York senator over the past three months and, in the process, dumped their earlier favourite, Barack Obama.

I wonder if they include this guy.

Great empires and tiny minds go ill together.....so writes Pat Buchanan on Bush's ill conceived foreign policy towards Russia- encouraged and probably planned by the Neocons many of whom have a cultural/folk hatred of Russians that transcends reason - but that can be said about most Neocon ideas.

In other news, or rather non news, I ran this google search on James Watson, DNA pioneer and recieved this result:

Which is rather funny because he's the latest scientist to be sacraficed on the alter of political correctness:

Africans are less intelligent than Westerners, says DNA pioneer

Fury at James Watson's theory: "All our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours - whereas all the testing says not really"

By Cahal Milmo

One of the world's most eminent scientists was embroiled in an extraordinary row last night after he claimed that black people were less intelligent than white people and the idea that "equal powers of reason" were shared across racial groups was a delusion.

James Watson, a Nobel Prize winner for his part in the unravelling of DNA who now runs one of America's leading scientific research institutions, drew widespread condemnation for comments he made ahead of his arrival in Britain today for a speaking tour at venues including the Science Museum in London.

The 79-year-old geneticist reopened the explosive debate about race and science in a newspaper interview in which he said Western policies towards African countries were wrongly based on an assumption that black people were as clever as their white counterparts when "testing" suggested the contrary. He claimed genes responsible for creating differences in human intelligence could be found within a decade.

The newly formed Equality and Human Rights Commission, successor to the Commission for Racial Equality, said it was studying Dr Watson's remarks "in full". Dr Watson told The Sunday Times that he was "inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa" because "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours – whereas all the testing says not really". He said there was a natural desire that all human beings should be equal but "people who have to deal with black employees find this not true".

His views are also reflected in a book published next week, in which he writes: "There is no firm reason to anticipate that the intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their evolution should prove to have evolved identically. Our wanting to reserve equal powers of reason as some universal heritage of humanity will not be enough to make it so." ...

Dr Watson arrives in Britain today for a speaking tour to publicise his latest book, Avoid Boring People: Lessons from a Life in Science. Among his first engagements is a speech to an audience at the Science Museum organised by the Dana Centre, which held a discussion last night on the history of scientific racism.

Critics of Dr Watson said there should be a robust response to his views across the spheres of politics and science. Keith Vaz, the Labour chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, said: "It is sad to see a scientist of such achievement making such baseless, unscientific and extremely offensive comments. I am sure the scientific community will roundly reject what appear to be Dr Watson's personal prejudices.

"These comments serve as a reminder of the attitudes which can still exists at the highest professional levels." ...

Anti-racism campaigners called for Dr Watson's remarks to be looked at in the context of racial hatred laws. A spokesman for the 1990 Trust, a black human rights group, said: "It is astonishing that a man of such distinction should make comments that seem to perpetuate racism in this way. It amounts to fuelling bigotry and we would like it to be looked at for grounds of legal complaint."

There we have it, plain as day. Still think the West is free? It isn't and these laws are slowly coming into effect in the US as well.

I am not a scientist, nor is it an area of primary interest - but an area of interest nonetheless. I have seen how political correctness has distorted art and history, and became interested in how it distorted science. We are more or less, at the moment, have policies which run counter to not only common sense, but human nature. The only question I really have now is how long can a society and civilization continue to exist which not only avoids reality but denies its existence.

......................................................................................

Naturally I haven't had time to read through all this crap these stories, but there is one prevailing theme: Watson is a racist or senile because obviously those remarks are racist. As I said, I am not a scientist but when a scientist offers data and an argument and is met with this sort of reaction my usual gut feeling is the scientist is right. If he could be refute they would do so easily without name calling. Some try to offer pseudo scientific arguments but they shoot themselves in the foot by refusing to acknowledge difference in the first place with doozies such as (to paraphrase) "there is no significant IQ difference but the gap is closing".

I don't think there is a definitive answer yet about intelligence and inheritance, but 'other side' claiming race is a social construct is just plain nonsense. What I would like to see is a discussion - a rational, scientific discussion without witch hunts like this. I find it odd that the left is constantly pushing for more tolerance of pornography, public displays of sexuality, sexualizing children all under the guise of 'freedom' (it is not it is imperial decadence vs. republican virtue) and then tries to shut down discussion of issues like this. Why is it important? Because anything that challenges their radical egalitarian orthodoxy is 'wrong' by definition.

I will mention that the other end of the spectrum - high Ashkenazim intelligence is in public discussion. From Commentary (enjoy it while you can, Podohretz's nutty, stupid son, who shatters cliches of Jewish intelligence, is taking over) :

Jewish Genius

Charles Murray From issue: April 2007

Since its first issue in 1945, COMMENTARY has published hundreds of articles about Jews and Judaism. As one would expect, they cover just about every important aspect of the topic. But there is a lacuna, and not one involving some obscure bit of Judaica. COMMENTARY has never published a systematic discussion of one of the most obvious topics of all: the extravagant overrepresentation of Jews, relative to their numbers, in the top ranks of the arts, sciences, law, medicine, finance, entrepreneurship, and the media.

I have personal experience with the reluctance of Jews to talk about Jewish accomplishment—my co-author, the late Richard Herrnstein, gently resisted the paragraphs on Jewish IQ that I insisted on putting in The Bell Curve (1994). Both history and the contemporary revival of anti-Semitism in Europe make it easy to understand the reasons for that reluctance. But Jewish accomplishment constitutes a fascinating and important story. Recent scholarship is expanding our understanding of its origins.

And so this Scots-Irish Gentile from Iowa hereby undertakes to tell the story. I cover three topics: the timing and nature of Jewish accomplishment, focusing on the arts and sciences; elevated Jewish IQ as an explanation for that accomplishment; and current theories about how the Jews acquired their elevated IQ.

I would add, that this Scot-Irish gentile tends to agree, but the thinks the intelligence is verbal rather than spatial which accounts for their tendency to prefer abstract art (you can talk about it) over representational art (of course there are great representation Jewish artists - Silverman, Greene, and the relatively young Juliette Aristides who I am pretty sure is Jewish and has made spiritually themed paintings) as opposed to the 'hands on' abilities of other dynamic peoples, such as the Scot-Irish :) - who disproportionately produced many of the worlds great marksmen (it is downright scary how easily my cousins and I, aged 12, could put a bullet through a beer can at 200 yards.) , soldiers, field generals, practical inventors (steam engine, phone, bicycle to name a few) and thinkers like Smith and Hume.

The former talents are why the Scot-Irish peoples were always put on the frontiers of the British empire (thus their American name -Scots Irish - from their original 'mission' to quell Irish catholic uprisings) , and in America, the Mexican and Indian fighters and pioneers (Boone, Crocket, Bowie, to name a few) and to this day, make up the core ethnic group of the US army (nice to know if there is ever a coup) .

Unlike the Ashkenazim, we also had a tendency to slip unruly into and violent behavior, thus 'hell raising" Texas - and had/have higher tendencies toward alcoholism which accounts for the prevalence of Scottish temperance movements in the Presbyterian church and Baptist which many flocked to (and accounts for great Uncle S's flask hidden in the chandelier).

...................

Update:: Watson is apologizing but he bright enough to know that will mean nothing, the PC crowd has found another white male for ritual sacrifice - he is living proof 'Racism is not dead' and 'still exists in the highest levels of society'. He will have to do a penance and perhaps even publicly deny scientific reality. Such is the world we live in, as I have said repeatedly, the only question is, how long can it last?

This incident must send a shutter to scientists the world over: make one politically incorrect statement - even if it is scientifically based - and even if you are a noble prize winner, within hours you will be kicked off advisory boards, your lectures canceled and your legacy smeared. The more I think about it the more it disgusts me.

I Can't Make This Stuff Up....

I am not that imaginative:

'Mom' and 'Dad' banished by CaliforniaSchwarzenegger signs law outlawing terms perceived as negative to 'gays'

Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" effectively have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose.

"We are shocked and appalled that the governor has blatantly attacked traditional family values in California," said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute.

"With this decision, Gov. Schwarzenegger has told parents that their values are irrelevant. Many parents will have no choice but to pull their children out of the public schools that have now become sexualized indoctrination centers."

"Arnold Schwarzenegger has delivered young children into the hands of those who will introduce them to alternative sexual lifestyles," said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, which worked to defeat the plans. "This means children as young as five years old will be mentally molested in school classrooms.

"Shame on Schwarzenegger and the Democrat politicians for ensuring that every California school becomes a homosexual-bisexual-transsexual indoctrination center," he said.

.....

Analysts have warned that schools across the nation will be impacted by the decision, since textbook publishers must cater to their largest purchaser, which often is California, and they will be unlikely to go to the expense of having a separate edition for other states.

The bills signed by Schwarzenegger include SB777, which bans anything in public schools that could be interpreted as negative toward homosexuality, bisexuality and other alternative lifestyle choices.

There are no similar protections for students with traditional or conservative lifestyles and beliefs, however.

"SB 777 will result in reverse discrimination against students with religious and traditional family values," said Meredith Turney, legislative liaison for Capitol Resource Institute. "These students have lost their voice as the direct result of Gov. Schwarzenegger's unbelievable decision. The terms 'mom and dad' or 'husband and wife' could promote discrimination against homosexuals if a same-sex couple is not also featured.

"Parents want the assurance that when their children go to school they will learn the fundamentals of reading, writing and arithmetic – not social indoctrination regarding alternative sexual lifestyles. Now that SB777 is law, schools will in fact become indoctrination centers for sexual experimentation," she said.

England told WND that the law is not a list of banned words, including "mom" and "dad." But she said the requirement is that the law bans discriminatory bias.

"Having 'mom' and 'dad' promotes a dicsriminatory bias. You have to either get rid of 'mom' and 'dad' or include everything when talking about [parental issues]," she said. "They [promoters of sexual alternative lifestyles] do consider that discriminatory."

...it's arrived! the Wiemer Republic is here! Exciting isn't it? People have been predicting the end of the Republic for some time, but it comes with a whimper, not a bang, and is scarce noticed like roadsign in the night. As anyone who has traveled the border of a country knows there isn't a black and white difference between say, France and Germany, but as you head towards Germany things gradually become more German....eventually, it no longer feels French but thoroughly German and you no longer have that 'edge' feeling but rather, you feel you're in Germany. Thus it is with Republic to empire, we have crossed the border and one day we'll wake up and find the Republic was just a memory.

National Healthcare, It's Like Pulling (your own) Teeth.

From the Telegraph:

Sufferers pull out teeth due to lack of dentists

By Matthew Moore and agencies
Last Updated: 2:43am BST 16/10/2007

People with toothache are resorting to pulling their own teeth because they cannot find a NHS dentist, a study out today says.

Almost a fifth of those questioned in the biggest patient survey of its kind said that they had missed out on dental work because of the cost.

Sufferers pull out teeth due to lack of dentists
Almost half of the dentists questioned said that their surgery was no longer taking NHS patients

The research, involving more than 5,000 patients in England, also found that as many as six per cent had treated themselves because they could not find a dentist.

The Fatherless Civilization

The Fatherless Civilization

Created 2007-10-15 15:02

American columnist Diana West recently released her book The Death of the Grown-up, where she traces the decline of Western civilization to the permanent youth rebellions of the past two generations. The decade from the first half of the 1960s to the first half of the 1970s was clearly a major watershed in Western history, with the start of non-Western mass immigration in the USA, the birth of Eurabia in Western Europe and the rise of Multiculturalism and radical Feminism.

....more here. originally found at the worthy "Gates Of Vienna"

By the way the Belgium government has tried to shut down the Brussels Journal, charging that it is racist, a mild examination of it will show that its content is about as 'right' as a conservative in the US, say Pat Buchanan as a yardstick.... in the same way they declared the party that wanted to limit immigration as racist and illegal (when it was showing strong backing in the polls) they now want to censor opinion that is creating those parties. This is 'democracy' in the EU.

On the theme of maturity Pat Buchanan asks "Does this generation have the maturity to lead America?" The answer, of course, is a resounding no. The 1960s/Baby Boom generation recreated society on false values and lies, and now it is all falling apart. You can only ignore reality so long.

Buchanan is writing about the Democrat sponsored Armenian genocide resolution, and offers legitimate objections why now would not be a good time to go through with such legislation, but it's inevitable that it will - once we embraced the victim/handout culture, it was difficult to deny it to others, it obvious 'the system' doesn't work anymore. Previously, with pressure from the ADL and AIPAC, Democrats would help to suppress such resolutions but in the age of the interent and Youtube, local activism becomes national whether mainstream media likes it or not - and town of Waterton mass, booting the ADL for being the massive hypocrites they are, caused the ADL to reverse its stance.

I know how the ADL hates public quotations of the New Testament, but, Mr. Foxman, a house built on sand.....

Corporate Welfare For Free Trade Fanatics, Again

Wall street always tells us that opening our borders and markets will enrich us. They don't mention that the 'us' is just them. Of course they take great pains to actually make sure their industries are not only protected, but bailed out when in trouble:

The Smoke and Mirrors SIV Rescue Plan

Although the details of the planned SIV rescue program, the so called Master Liquidity Enhancement Conduit (MLEC) have yet to be announced, enough has been leaked to allow us to speculate with slightly greater confidence.

........
Now to the details, or lack thereof. As we suspected, this program, which is sounds as if has been designed mainly among the Treasury, Citigroup, and agents JP Morgan and Bank of America (with limited input by unnamed others) is not far beyond the high concept stage. The speculation at the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and Bloomberg is that it will be announced today with the expectation that it will be up and running (which we assume means having closed) within 90 days. But the worrisome acknowledgment in the Times that many details need to be sorted out says a great deal needs to be negotiated with intended participants. both the other banks with SIVs and prospective investors.
Hey guys why not just 'let the market figure it out'?

You can't construct an arena and put it right against a street in a post 9/11 world....

...Unless you live in the fantasy world of Bruce Ratner/Forest City/ESDC, where demapping city streets is good urban planning and luxury condos are affordable housing. Prior to the Walkathon, DDDB et al had a press conference, calling attention to the matter:

BROOKLYN, NY — Just two weeks before the grand opening of the Newark Prudential Center arena on October 25th, that city’s police department has mandated the closure of at least two streets abutting the new arena as an anti-terrorism measure during arena events. Newark Police Director Garry McCarthy told the Newark Star-Ledger, "You can't construct an arena and put it right against a street in a post 9/11 world. So we're playing catch-up and taking measures to make sure it's safe."

“The terror risk for Forest City Ratner’s (FCR) planned Atlantic Yards project in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn is potentially far greater than that faced by the Newark arena, and there is no reason that Brooklyn should play catch-up sometime down the road. The time for a review of the impacts of a terrorist threat against Atlantic Yards and a state hearing on the issue is now,” said Develop Don’t Destroy Brooklyn (DDDB) spokesman Daniel Goldstein. “We call on Governor Spitzer’s ‘homeland security czar,’ Deputy Secretary for Public Safety Michael Balboni, to address the need for and testify at such a hearing on Atlantic Yards terrorism security issues, and for Governor Spitzer’s ESDC to learn from Newark’s lack of planning and initiate a proper review of Atlantic Yards and terrorism security.”
Well said Mr. Goldstein, but as we know Spitzer's idea of homeland security is allowing illegal aliens to obtain driver's licenses (which makes renting vans and packing them with explosives even easier). The boilerplate Forest City Spin:

"From the start, Forest City Ratner has worked very closely with security experts on Atlantic Yards, and the top police, fire and security experts in the City have reviewed and approved our comprehensive plan. Anyone who has any experience in security knows that you do not discuss sensitive security matters in public for very obvious reasons," he said.

Wow Bruce, you have some super-secret invention or security measure that's going to 'mitigate' glass walled arenas by busy city streets? You may want to let the Newark Police Department in on it, because they are taking the very public measure of closing streets close to the arena. What is your plan Bruce, shut down Atlantic and Flatbush?

In the same way Ratner/FCR showed fake interest in the community, in affordable housing, or anything else but lining their own pockets, I can safely predict they will show fake concern with security.
Post 9-11 ignoring security is something like ignoring lifeboat for passenger ratio after Titanic, but right now, it is quite likely that Forest City and their minions for hire at the ESDC are not working on improving security but on improving the appearance of security, and finding a legal loophole that allows them to technically say they are addressing security without having to do anything that will get in the way of maximizing profit.

The Derriere Guard 10th Anniversary.

Ever since i read about the first Derriere Guard Festival, back in 1997, I wanted to be a part of it. The idea of being around like minded artists, poets, composers, architects, thinkers seemed an impossible dream, after all who liked realism? Who would embarrass themselves by saying they liked Norman Rockwell or even Sargent? Well Tom Wolf was one, who back then, boldly predicted that Picasso will be all but forgotten in by 2020.

Last night, in the closing speech, he stood by his prediction, citing the 'collapse of taste' that usually happens sometime after the turn of a century (and has happened since the Renaissance). He gave an accurate assessment of the current art scene referring to it as tenure art, no hands art. Tenure art is the art produced by faculty that gets them job security. It must appeal to the 'charming aristocracy' - the elite who identify themselves by liking something that the masses could not like and in turn rejecting any sort of art that the masses could like. So art in the 20-early 20th century world, is simply a way of buying into an aristocracy. "No hands" art is the artist with absolutely no technical ability but hires out all the actual executions of his idea.

He rattled off the all too familiar list of outrageous, absurd, wasteful 'art', like Hartford paying $80,000.00 to a 'sculptor' who simply placed 8 or so native rocks in the public square, or a sculpture that was so ugly and obtrusive employees petitioned to remove it from the Javits center and this was the sculptor's claim to fame - he created something ugly enough to be hated by the masses and thus embraced by the charming aristocracy.

But its all coming to an end, its really running on bankrupt ideas - as is the whole post modern world - there is only so long you live in defiance of reality.

The same goes for architecture, he remarked that Frank Gehry and another architect were critiquing a design back in the 70s and said 'it's not ugly enough'.

Stefania de Kenessey has alluded to this earlier, by noting that the definition of music has literally changed here is quote from an old essay of hers:

My old, well-thumbed Concise Oxford Dictionary, originally printed in 1911, characterizes music as the “art of combining sounds with a view to beauty of form and expression of emotion.” Now do likewise with a dictionary published after the 1930s or so, and you will see a staggering difference. The version offered by my 1974 Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary, for example, posits music as “the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationship….
There was an earlier round table discussion with Jacob Collins (who runs and founded Grand Central Academy where this was held), Frank Turner, De Kenessey, a Mrs. Fairfax who's first name alludes me but is a neoclassical architect, and another composer whose name alludes me.

Fairfax remarked that even the green movement is being co-opted by modernists, despite the fact that traditional materials are better for insulation - and steel and glass most definitely are not - so when Frank Gehry tries to palm his environmentally intensive crap as green he's no more convincing than when he tries to convince me it's beautiful. One humorous aside- there was spontaneous collective chuckling when Turner described that uncomfortable feeling when you' try to see beauty you don't see' in modern (as in abstract) art. Yeah, I get the feeling every time I look at Ratner/Gehry's Atlantic Yards rendering. I hope I don't have to get that feeling every time I walk by Flatbush and Atlantic.

'Twas a fine day for a walk....

Indo Arts Festival:

Link here. I have enjoyed this festival in the past there was always a film or to worth watching. But in briefly glancing over thus far, only Saawariya looks good, and that will be out in conventional theatres anyway.
